We're already committed over Easter so won't be able to make this one. Maybe next time!

Im in the same boat, if youll excuse the pun, the feedback so far is either sailing waterproofs or a drysuit.......... both arent cheap!

Just had reply from Sue Beech at lymington harbour office re launch and park enquiry, she suggests using slip next to lym yacht club as town quay gets very busy. cost is £12.50 for vehicle ass launch under 100hp from 1st apr 2012 .carpark is new forest council pay & diplay.

I am not planning on camping, I would rather sleep in my own bed, do I assume that the tides will allow us to go out and come back in to the same slipway?

If you are talking about Lymington slip I need about 3 hours before/after low tide to recover my 4m rib and stay dry, I have no power tilt though. depending on how far you are willing to put the car in you could probably recover a sib around 2 hour mark fine.
I some how ALWAYS seem to end up recovering at low tide (luckily have a drysuit) and I am more than happy to save someone getting wet if I'm in the area...OK...I enjoy launching and recovering

No need for expense waterproofs - you might feel damp after due to sweat, should be fine in water for few hours

warm clothing - not jeans
fleece, thermals are going...jogger,
Wellies -who cares if there green or yellow!

a waterproof trousers and top - non-breathable

it's only worth investing on waterproofs etc, if you going to use them constantly...I like the bib type since it protects my back...

boat can be expensive or as cheap as you make it...you will not find a commerical fisherman wearing musto or Henry Lloyd !

Have we contacted Yarmouth Harbour to check about 10+ little boats all arriving together - it does get mighty busy especially over bank holiday weekends.....

An alternative to overcome any problem in Yarmouth would be to take advantage of the high spring tides that weekend and eat at the pub in Newtown Creek (just east of Yarmouth). Most boats will be able to raft up in the main part of the creek with a few acting as taxis to run the pasengers to the jetty where mooring is available.
