Solent - Guernsey. End of Sep/Early Oct?

Me and a few friends are looking at cruising down to Guernsey towards the end of September/early October. This trip will be a combination of having a nice weekend away, and keeping on top of passage planning, "proper" navigation etc. One of our guys is going to use it as a prep for his APBI.

Is there someone else in the Solent area that fancies doing the same trip in company? I am keen to go alongside another boat as we are a single engined boat (9m). Rough plan (subject to dates, weather etc) would be to leave the Solent 8ish on Saturday morning, get to Guernsey around lunchtime, then leave at lunchtime on the Sunday, getting back here around 5ish.

Cant do September, but would be interested if it is in October. By then the Rib will be back in the Southampton area.

We are looking at the following dates:

Sat 16th and Sun 17th Oct, with the weekend after next (30th/31st) as backup if the weather is rubbish.

The more the merrier! The plan will be to RV at Yarmouth at around 0930ish for final fuel/loo/food on the Saturday morning then head over. Once we get to St Peter Port everyone can do as they wish (it's my birthday so you are most welcome to join us on a pubcrawl of St Peter Port) until late morning on the Sunday, when I propose we head over to Alderney for lunch, then head for home. We stayed in a very nice, very reasonably priced hotel when we did this last October. I shall enquire about rooms etc.

Sounds like a nice birthday trip, its mine too that weekend, though i think my 5.0 Tornado would need to grow by a meter or more in the next couple of months
Hope it all goes well for you

If the weather looks good we're thinking about taking a 4m Searider as well

90mile across open sea in an SR4 You're going to need big balls or a big weather window for that.

sounds like a fund trip though.

If I do get to go on this trip taking the Parker, I will offer 6 seats for anyone wishing to join us. Andre plus 1, have already expressed an interest.
This is purely a leisure trip and not commercial, but we would all share the fuel cost between us.
Let me know if interested.
Steve

It looks like you might have a full boat Steve

As per my post above, you are all welcome to join us for a Barbie on Sunday if you are planning on returning via Alderney. If not, come round the back of the island and wave as you go past.

What are the chances of you going Steve? got the green light from her indoors and the little 9 week old. Would require a trip from Chester down to the South, but would love to do it.

Solent - Guernsey. End of Sep/Early Oct?

Damn, just the kind of trip i was looking for, although a Predator 5.40 on a bench seat for 4 - 5 hours would be tough going. Will definately take up the offer of seats next year and contribute to fuel costs if a similar trip comes up. Off to Paphos for 4 week working holiday next week and crusing out of Latchi on some Greek ribs. At least the weather will be slightly warmer and the sea clearer than the solent.
