Doubt it will be helping out at Scottish series 06 after the nonsense we had last year with the diesel!!! Think it will be in its support role for the racing boat.

blinddog - I'm not planning anything on East coast cos me boat is at Loch Linnhe but if you can bothered trailing it up there I am planning to either head up to fort william and along the canal (at least some of the way) or to have a play around Lismore etc. All very sketchy, all very weather dependent and open to suggestions.

Cowal's in Ballachulish for some upgrading

When it's all done we'll need to do some sea trials and endure a period of "running in"

so at a date sometime in the next month or so (it's nearly Xmas, I have to sell stuff y'know

) we might be prowling around between Lismore and Corpach.

Feel free to PM me if/when you have specific plans. I suspect Cowal will be more than a little faster than "Imposter" (20 knots max) but quite fancy a trip up there to check she is OK.

Tarbert 8th December for a few beers and an overnighter. I think Drew, Wullie and the usual suspects are going.

The heating I fitted should make a difference at this time of year.

Might take the gear and pick some scallops on the way home if I'm not wrecked!

I could be up for any of the Forth / Clyde / Lhinne escapades, but before I do, I really must finish the rewire and find a trailer that will reliably get further than the end of my road!

If the Lhinne trip happens to coincide with reasonably calm weather I could drag the 'ole Johnsorude out of hibernation & hang it on the back of a dory

- so would need to either do a "windward shore cruise" or use one of you as an "iron" if the wind gets up

Will keep an eye on the post in the meantime.......

Was out two sundays ago....it was really blowing. Managed to stuff the bow into a trough, which then burst over the full length of the boat, and I was sitting up to my ankles in water!

All good fun though, just turned it around and tootled back into the marina. The boat was really stable with the weight of about 10 gallons of water slopping around!

Nov has been a rubbish month for boating, and this month is not too good so far.

Will try to go out for a wee jaunt this sunday to keep the engine ticking over. Again, the weekend weather looks rubbish, but Sunday may be the better day.

146hrs so far this year....Beats watching the telly! (Most of the time)

One of my ambitions is a run up the clyde to the centre of Glasgow from about Dumbarton. Any speed limits on this stretch of water at any point?

I've been up as far as the science centre from the mouth,the only concern we had was being to close to the BAE military boat slip,(got shouted at) opposite the Braehead centre.

I think you are supposed to log the trip with the Clyde Port Authority, we didn't however in light of the tug incident I think it would be prudent .

Can't help on speed limits, the CPA would answer that one (interested to know myself) we worked on the basis of .. don't do anything daft and no one will bother you.

Remember to visit the sugar boat.

I have often considered this trip (normally when sat at 0mph above it, just love the M8

). would be up for something like this at some point.

I also fancy a trip out to the Bell Rock at some point anyone know if you can still land on it at low water (on a nice day)?

"Speedy" on here can probably give an answer to that as well as any necessary local info. He runs the sea school next to the tall ship. The pontoon at the bromielaw is closed though (http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/GettingAround/River) - so not sure what options that gives if you want to "get off" in glasgow for a coffee or a pint.

I am sure there would be somewhere, off the Exhibition centre there are sometimes large yachts and there are hundreds of quays and old slips in the area.
I am sure there would be somewhere that a small boat could tie up for an hour.
Clydeport rules online only state that you should be careful and operate in a courteous manner to other users.
I wonder if that means you can travel up the river at speed as long as nobody is around to bother, no speed actually stated as maximum?

I am on the beach at the moment as well having sold my boat and waiting for the new one to be delivered, then I need to fit it out.
It will be late in the summer at the earliest before I am afloat again but this is definitely on my to do list.
