Round Scotland

Hi folks, does anyone got the route of the last round scotland, organised by the Biboa or HMS ?
I could go this summer after my round Ireland in 2013 and round britain this 2014.
Do you have any advise for scotland, easy to find petrol on pontoon, marinas ? boat are staying on water at low tides ? weather ? B&Bs, you know the full package

Surely if you've gone Around Britain then you've gone Around Scotland? They've just voted to affirm that it's the same thing! Did you cheat in 2014 and take a shortcut? If so, the Round Britain 2014 was the Almost Around Britain 2014.

Bed and Breakfasts are plentiful near the harbours however, petrol is not. I solved it by having a support crew on land and we lifted the boat out to take it to the nearest petrol station. You could do it with fuel cans but it would be difficult.

June is the preferred month as there are fewer storms in Scotland in June compared to all the other months. In addition the long days help and indeed it doesn't really get dark, just dusk all through the night.

Its a great area do go and enjoy.

IIRC the "round scotland" 4m event started in Inverness then south-west through the Caledonian Canal, Loch Linnhe, Sound of Mull, Kyle of Lochalsh, then around the mainland back to Inverness. Not sure where the stops were.

Petrol will be a challenge for most of it!

Apparently both routes are Round Britain, so I'm told

I say RB via the Caledonian Canal, just to be on the safe side.

OK, here's the bit you need....

We have chosen the stop off points specifically with such services and facilities in mind but our advice is to book your B&B in good time in order to avoid difficulty. It will be our desire for everyone to eat together – or at least drink together each night when ever possible! Arrangements for the latter to be agreed ‘on the day.’
RIB International will have a 4X4 and boat trailer following the flotilla to each of the designated stop offs as land support. Each boat team will thus be assisted in the transport of their fuel on the completion of each leg undertaken where quayside fuel is not readily available. Please ensure your fuel tanks are clearly marked so as not to cause confusion during transportation etc."

We'd start from fort William, as we can best judge the weather for the first few days, then be nice and relaxed after two days in the canal on the way back

Yes there is one near fort william as thats where A1an met us after Neptune's staircase.

As you said we started in Inverness
1st night Fort William

2nd night Kyle of Lochalsh –

3rd night Lochinver

4th night Scrabster

5th night return to Inverness
