Round Britain

Hi there.

I have started to plan round Britain for July this year.

The biggest difficuilty is from Oban (where you can get petrol) round to Aberdeen (can you get petrol?). Does anyone have a list of ports that have fuel and/or be willing to share their itinery when they have done it?

What do people think is a reasonable distance to cover in one day, and average fuel economy?

The proposed boat is a 6.5m Ribcraft with a Suzuki 175 four storke.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Was up in Oban by boat last summer some days, we done 60-70 miles.
In Oban you can get petrol , why dont you email puffin divers in Oban, they run dive trips to St Kilda, and by design have possible knowledge of bunkering as you head north

Hello dwalters

Last year my son and I made a trip around england and wales. We ran a Humber Ocean Pro 6.3 with Suzuki DF115. we made 1.15L per Nm. I would not expect any worse with the bigger engine you propose if run sensibly. The smaller engine often has to work quite hard (given the weight of boat and fuel load carried)

We sold the boat to buy bigger and diesel (as we could see that extended cruising with Petrol was problematic!).I hate doing that jerry can bit. Havnt yet purchased boat.

Have a look at our trip

if the link is not correctly formed search on 'father and son'

If you would like crew/company and some percentage shareing of fuel cost would be pleased to meet and discuss further.

pm me to gain email address
