Oooh that's a bad bit of news. In hindsight I suppose it wouldn't have made much difference by carrying on driving it into Paris. Interesting how it didn't 'sound' that 'expensive' at the time and was so sudden.

Now I learn that they don't do a reman powerhead for my outboard, have to buy a new one

But it's Black Dog Marine to the rescue yet again, one in stock in Belgium and it's on it's way there before forwarding to Paris

It gets even better, the Mercury agents in France won't fit a powerhead unless I buy it from them so they pocket the 2 grand mark up

Some good news today, apparently the french have relented and agreed to fit my powerhead. It's due to arrive UK on 31st tuesday, 2-5 days to France so it could be done in a couple of weeks fingers crossed

It's fixed at last!

Only took 3months to do a 2 day job and they're charging double what my "worst case scenario figure" was that I had in mind but I can hardly argue about it

I think the port motor's had a bit of a lumpy idle for ages, doesn't seem to affect anything else though.

I was quite interested as to why the port motor had no gearbox in the first bit

Quick update : arrived Paris yesterday evening, found the dealership before going to the hotel, boat is still in their yard

I was led to believe it was back in the water

Still nice to be reunited after 3months!

Just waiting for them to open and hopefully get them to re launch without too much delay, I quite fancy getting home before that F7 arrives in the channel!

Quick update on Martini's behalf.

He is now making progress towards Paris having reached the Seine at about 3pm this afternoon

from the tributary where the boat had been taken for repair. He should make the bright lights by nightfall. Just hope it's not too dark to get a photo in front of La Tour Eiffel. As of now only 45kms to go.

I suspect the update also should include ;

While also having a paranoid listen for any click , bang, knock or clunk that is not 'normal' from an opti.... and wondering if the 'other' engine was 'like that before ?'

Seriously, I am sure a huge relief to start both engines and pull away from the pontoon. A trip to remember ( and a bill too)

I'm going to Jersey soon so will be on the lookout and listening for the sound of the throttles opening...
