Back in 2002 it was then titled the Plymouth to Looe Pasty run, as the first few trips aimed at the Cornish town for its pasty - with mixed success!!

As the years went on the target town moved East and Salcombe was used, with the 9th trip heading back West, this time to Fowey.

For the tenth anniversary its time to do something a bit special, especially as the event falls on the Queen's Platinum Bank Holiday weekend.

So the tenth anniversary Pasty run will see those attending enjoying;

Friday 3rd June - 08.44 HW - 11.00 departure

Plymouth to Fowey, via the Eddystone lighthouse, to partake in one of the SWs best pasties. On the way back we'll pay homage to the port of Looe, the location of the first few pasty runs by stopping for tea & cake, floating just offshore, as it'll be low tide by the time we get there.

Saturday 4th June - 09.19 HW 10.30 departure

Plymouth to Salcombe on the brownie run, the best brownie in the South West is to be found in the bakery, along with a superb Devon style pasty.

Sunday 5th June - 09.58 HW 10.30 departure

A longer trip for those that would like to cruise a bit farther. Plymouth to Dartmouth where we will partake it what is the best for crab sandwich ever.

The day will also be used as the back up for the fri /sat if the weather misbehaves.

All trips will be mid tide departures from the Breakwater Fort.
On the calender Andy, thanks for organising.

Folks

Plymouth is looking like it could be busy, it's too early for some of the marinas to know if their resident boats will be away, so clearing space for additional visitors.

I'm aware of three boats booked into QAB and at least 1 into the Yacht Haven so if you're looking at where to bearth, if joining for more then one day your options are;

Queens Anne Battery - https://www.mdlmarinas.co.uk/contact/
Plymouth Yacht Haven - https://www.yachthavens.com/plymouth...sitor-berthing
Mayflower Marina - https://www.mayflowermarina.co.uk/contact

I am up for this, having so far only managed to join in on the 7? bridges outing

Mayflower usually have visitor berths and move people around to make space as they get busier, there is also a free slipway along the road from them

Sounds a good idea to me, I'll be slumming it in the van so fairly flexible.

Is this event open to everyone? It sounds like a really fun idea. I’ve only got a RC 4.8m which I use around the brightlingsea area but would love the opportunity to take it down west where the actually oceans blue.

Morning

It's open to all and everyone. Previous events have seen everything from a 3.3m sib to an 8m inboard monster attend.

Its about fun in company, they that go a bit faster usually sprint off, spin round, come back, bomb back wards and finally all meet up just before where the pasty is coming from.

We usually aim for 18-20knts but that depends on the sea anyhow and will adjust according to group and weather.

Be good to see you down here and show you what we have to offer.

Thanks treerat it seems like a great idea I’m just trying to find some accommodation and somewhere to leave the trailer and I should be away.

I've booked an air bnb of which Plymouth has a quite a few, the Mountbatten centre has both accommodation and a pontoon for the rib and with loads of hotels and travel lodges there will be plenty to suit all tastes.

I launch at Saltash and use the trailer park there, Mountbatten car park has plenty of space, unless full of campers, lots of room on the road there too and if you use either Mayflower or Yacht Haven to leave the boat in overnight, they have trailer spaces too.

With a few ribs and a water taxi across the river getting from one side to the other is pretty simple for evening entertainment and food.

Lots of places to find some food / a beer around the Barbican - close to the marinas too

Spoke to the Plymouth yacht haven might have a berth but no room for the trailer apparently which is slightly frustrating.

Bit of a long shot maybe, but speak to Yacht Haven Dry stack about parking the trailer there whilst your using a Yacht Haven berth. Same company, just a bit further up stream.

When they are busy the public car park at Mountbatten (200 yrds up the road) has plenty of space for trailers as does the approach road at the slipway

That’s something that people do regularly? I’ve just never been before and don’t want to turn up and annoy people by just leaving my trailer somewhere is my worry.

Very much so - when there's a sailing even there every hedge is full too!!

I've left mine there for a week in the car park and a week on the road, locked and secured mind but there are lots there to choose from that aren't.

Sounds like a plan then!

Always works well if you lock and clamp then chain a trailer on another to make life harder still.
