Looks like the weather report is changing by the hour with the ‘window’ of good weather moving out slightly later on Saturday and Sunday, and wind direction now slightly higher but Westerly.

Need to Phone SarahG to confirm, but may now suggest a launch at Northney about noon or so.

Benefits to this will be enough water under the Hayling bridge so we can run down through Langstone harbour and avoid Chichester bar. Low water is 10:13 and neap at 1.1M for Pompey so we should have just enough water under the bridge.
I’ll have the smaller Nashers with me, which is the reason for avoiding the bar.

Slight change of plan for us i am afraid.

My sea trial was cancelled yesterday and re scheduled for tomorrow lunchtime.

Not sure when we will be back yet but may stop by in the evening if everything is still going on. Will get hold of someone on mobile to let you know!

are the chichester lot still leaving around the same time from chichester marina....ie around 10 am

how do folks think with the weather conditions it will be around chichester bar and on to priory bay....we will have the 4 and 6 yr old and dont want to put them thru too much.....was thinking we might launch at camber if its going to be a rough bumpy ride for them.

Chris

I know how you feel.
My 8 and 10 year old won't be up for anything too bad, unfortunatly though the camber may be busy with the show on.

I'm launching at Northney around 11 with SarahG, we'll go down through the harbour and see if the bar is worth it.
We'll be taking it slow across the rough bit, although if the Westerly prediction is right the bar shouldn't be too bad anyway.

this

7 and 8 Jul 07

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Folks the paras are in town this weekend, so in addition to locking up your daughters you might want to avoid Portsmouth on the 7th as they are parading and parachuting into Southsea. Camber dock for launching is probably best avoided as parking and traffic could be heavy.

Pete

i am going to see what the weather is like first thing and take it from there

cheers

Well the weather this morning is looking good . No wind and 100% blue sky. You could probably paddle across on a lilo today.

Set off but didn't make it!

Well I set off with good intentions but didn't make it!

We were a bit late setting off and had to stop for fuel so it was about 15.00 when we were in mid solent and it was blowing a F5. So what, you say. Well my crew contains a 4 and a 6 year old and a wifey who doesn't like the upey downey stuff. In order to stay dry we had to slow to a point that by the time we got there it would be time to come back. I didn't want to subject them to two hours of that so we had to abort the trip to Priory. We went to Osbourne bay an anchored for a bit but it really wasn't pleasant.

I hope those who did make it had a good time. Look forward to seeing the photos.

Peter.
