Out of interest how much fuel would a 60 hp 5.2 meter boat be carrying to safely circumnavigate the island? I toyed with the idea of doing it solo over the bank holiday weekend. (Humber pawl has now somewhat put me off as we were going to tacle it anti-clockwise!) I reckoned 80-90 litres, but has someone got any actual used figures?

I know consumption is variable based on conditions weight etc etc

Longest ever run to date was Dunbar to Isle of May (circa 22 miles) I used approximately 20 litres of fuel. Conditions were probably optimum based in terms of sea conditions as I managed to maintain a high speed plane for circa 2/3 of the distance.

Well our old Avon 5.4 with modern two stroke 90 was roughly just under a litre a mile. It's v roughly 80 mile round depending on how many bays you enter or cut across. I always carry 50% extra in case it gets rough and you drop to a slow speed.

From posts on here most ribs 5-7m seem to be between 0.8 and 1.5L per mile at their mid range cruising speed.

We are just dropped the rib off with Chris and got to the travel lodge. Probably only going to get as far as the harbour bar tonight for some Scram and a few libations. If anyone's about I'm bald and Amanda's not

Well
I am just back after three weeks in Argyll and it was wall to wall sunshine except for to days. In the main the wind behaved as well only a few days were the sea star was 'lumpy'.
So
Looking forward to the invasion and hope the wx is good as you will enjoy the many places you can go to.
Cheers
B
