Milford Haven to Fleetwood

Hi folks

Got a trip planned from Milford Haven to Fletwood this Friday to Sunday

Plan is Milford Haven to Pwellhi on Friday
Pwellhi to Conway on Saturday
Conway to Fleetwood on Sunday.

Things may change a little if we get really good conditions I may push for Fleetwood on the Saturday and miss out Conway
All one way though.

If anyone fancy joining me either with another RIB or aboard for part or all of the trip let me know.

Plan is to leave Milford about 12.00 Friday

Regards Gary

Hello Gary,

I would be out there on Friday myself, but am stuck with work I'm afraid.

The weather is looking pretty good at this stage of the week for the weekend - there seems to be a nice high pressure building, and at the moment, the met office don't reckon there's going to be any wind at all on the Saturday........

If you need a hand with anything though while you're down here, give me a shout.... otherwise, have a good trip back up North

Thanks Alex

Think everything is in hand (famous last words)

Now planning to leave about 10.00 is as cant get fuel at Pwellhi after 4.45PM so need to get their before then.

Hope conditions are good, bet their will still be quite a swell but if the winds drops should still make a good speed.

See you in August when we are back down.

Regards Gary

Yeah, things look ok for tomorrow Gary.

The swell is holding at about 2metres the last couple of days, which is nothing really. I think it was just over 3metres the last time we were there
As the pressure builds, you may find that it drops right off....

That's just off St Annes, and gives the weather right now.

I have no idea what it'll be like past Skomer though... we are on spring tides at the moment, but they aren't particularly high ones.

Will be in contact no doubt before you come back down in August,

-Alex

Pwllheli

Typical, the one weekend I am not in Abersoch (wedding back at home). If you get weathered off this weekend, I'll be down next one. Let us know if you make it this weekend.

Cheers
Ian

Weathered

Doesn't look like you'll get weathered.....

Forecast for tomorrow around here is calm or slight with 4-8 mph from South or South East

Hi folks

Back to Fleetwood now.

Did Milford have to Pwllheli on Friday, 110 mils in 5 hours.
Cardigan bay almost flat calm one I got past that dam Skomer and St Davids, does it never get calm round their No wind as such but still a short 2M swell and confused seas.
Saw a first, a group of sharks feeding thought at first it was rocks and waves breaking but 40 miles offshore and 200 ft under me i was dubious. Went to have a look and their was about 5-6 fins thrashing round. Didnt get too close but i am sure they was not dolphins.

Saturday was Pwllheli to Conway about 75 miles in 4 hours.
Quite a good trip again very calm a bit choppy round Bardsy Island, still find the swirls and whirlpools round their weird. Did Meni strights upsetting a few yachts, they was pushing through the Swellies a bit late maybe making 1-2Kts against the flow when I shot past making a bit more then 1-2 Kts
Found Conway channel not very well buoyed but got in fine.
Nice but dam expensive marina.

Sunday Conway to Fleetwood, Approx 65 miles and 3 hours.Had three on board instead of just me as kids joined me. Turned out to be the roughest of the days but still not bad about force 3-4. Had about a 3 foot swell & short chop typical if Morcombe bay. Dropped speed down to 20Kts at request of the kids but no problems.
No lobster pots like in the last few days but lots of logs and drift wood etc coming into Lune deeps.

Good trips overall has rasied a few questions though, which i will post over the next few days, one done today

Find the new RIB great, not maybe a fast as I thought it may have been but seams to handle things very well and is great on fule, got in the order of 1L per mile on this trip, but it was calm.

Have took a few pics and will post them later.

Regards Gary

Good to hear you got back up North ok, Gary

Despite being flat calm here yesterday, it was still lumpy out by Skomer.... I'm not sure if the friends I had on board were that keen on the sea hitting us side on, but the boat seemed quite happy all the same.

Sharks don't sound too good - wonder if they like Hypalon....

Do you reckon the new larger props are slowing you down a bit? - I know we were going with the tide a bit that time, but we were both doing 39knots for a small while....

Hi Alex

Didnt give the sharks chance to find out dont know how fast they can swim but I bet is not 30Kts plus

As far as the prop goes, not 100% sure yet the 34Kts at 3300RPM was not in totally flat water like in Milford also when we was doing 39Kts I was running at 3600RPM not 3300RPM.

Will do some more playing now I have some answers about max RPM's etc from Barrus.

Will keep you posted.
Also got a few pic which I am going to post tonight of the trip back home.

Regards Gary
