Mileage Builders

Morning All,

As some of you may know, I've just completed a PB2.

As a result of that (and not having a boat) I'm looking for ways to gain more experience.

So what do you think of these sorts of mileage builders:
RYA powerboat school training - mileage courses

Does anyone recommend or know any other similar mileage builders.

Cheers
Alex

For someone without a boat or friends with boat I think this is excellent pre buying experience! Will give real time experience and be great fun. Effectively hiring a boat for the day with an instructor aboard....... However I suspect the prices will reflect this!

Yet the cost is likely a lot less than buying a new boat after only doing PB2 once, launching and then crashing your pride and joy on day 1!!!

Personally PB2 is great for a tasterof boating, crew, family or children, but isn't enough to unleash someone with a rib with sole control and no one experienced on board, especially as the boat gets bigger and more powerful.

Looks great to me before you helm your life savings alone!

290.00 GBP Each - 2 People (plus instructor) per boat.

Fortunately my GF is also interested and holds a PB2 (Minimum requirement) - so we'd effectively have our 'own boat' with an instructor.

Hopeful there will be a few instructors on here that can offer something similar for your to compare, but that looks good.

We're a friendly lot!

Obviously you won't have the advantage of an instructor, but you could start a thread to ask if someone would be interested in inviting you along on a cruise in exchange of sharing costs etc.

If your GF is good looking you could post a picture and you'll be inundated I'm sure

Where's your cruising grounds?

Pretty much anywhere Southern England, I live in London. Lymington is my favourite place, particularly staying in The Mayflower, lovely little(ish?) boozer with really nice rooms. I did make the mistake of assuming that group of Inn's would be nice - but the one is Cowes (the Anchor) is a bit of a dive.

I'd certainly share costs on a cruise though!

Cheers!
