Lulworth RIB raid 9th Aug

Lots have loosely mentioned cruise to Lulworth/Weymouth how about 9th Aug? Tides look reasonable slack water off Peveril point/St Albans 10:30 and 15:30 (please feel free to shout me down if I've got that wrong!) more adventurous can start from Southampton and few slips on route so you can choose distance ie Lymington, Poole etc so we could plan in RV points to suit. SIB's could also join in the fun launching at Portland/Bowleaze. Meet up at Lulworth for pub lunch BBQ?

Always fancied going to Lulworth / Weymouth.
Be great to do the trip for the first time with other ribs.
Can you please include me.
Will come from Portsmouth, so would look to meet anybody out of Southampton.

Did your insurance cover an accident on "his" pontoon? If not, you of all people will understand their concern. I understand that the pontoon is for their exclusive use and insured on that basis. Seems fair to keep other ribnobbers off it

That's a pointless post.

An accident where his property got damaged? Yes actually it does....me ' of all people' know about this stuff instead of just using Google and guessing about what 'public liability' actually means.

What is their concern? Have they told you its about insurance? or are they just grumpy? Have you been there and seen them?

Remind me never to be nice or helpful to you on the water if that's your view of just being a nice person to others.

(this is my nice responce....Just so i don't upset anyone.....)

If it seems like a pointless post to you Peter, then it's because you have failed to see the point, not that there isn't one.

If your crew are on the Lulworth (private) pontoon and manage to hurt themselves on something, will your insurance cover this - or will your insurance company pursue their's for it? How could the Lulworth operator tell that you are insured as you approach? I may not be an insurance broker, but I've certainly enough experience dealing with insurance companies and courts to see how badly insured parties are treated by the system when it come to claims.

No, I haven't been there - although I experience a hint of deja vu anyway when the subject resurfaces. Insurance and terms of usage are their prime concerns - and yes, I do know that they are not permitted (for insurance reasons) to allow anyone else land or depart the pontoon. I understand that they can be fairly rude to anyone attempting to use the facility. I can only speculate that by the time the tenth smug, excuse laden, self entitled boat owner that day attempts to use their property against their express wishes, patience is wearing thin.

I don't have to be "nice" to you Peter - I just have to be reasonably polite. I'll have to struggle on without your "niceness" or "helpfulness" on the water for a bit longer. Now, shall I put a big tray on the floor to catch your rattles again when they come flying?

I was hoping to ask everyone to donate a selfie to a heart charity in memomory of mike bennett as this was his last run

I'll bring my dingy, I can do some ferry service to get people ashore. I would warn you that we refer to it as the dingy of death and are convinced it is possessed! This is based on the number of times it has caused injuries both afloat and when stored at home.

Still, the offer stands for those brave enough!

I haven't been in there for a while. I need to get my head round this pontoon thing. Is the pontoon private or public? If there is no firing on the range you could all go into warbarrow bay a bit further along It's really nice in there

Oh no here we go again i believe its private and he reads the forum as last time he knew ww were ribnet tbh i think his overzealousness on pontoon dropping off has made him a target that and his lax lifejacket enforcement interestid
ng to note c2 a similar size made us wear his life jackets im sure we could sort some tenders out i was going to take my sib to lulworth and charge a taxi service but someoesd to fund a new set of carbs sadly someone has fixed them

Can we see your insurance policy in case we need to claim?

Well if it's private I can see his point, if he's paid for the pontoon and the upkeep and insurance and jumped through all the hoops to get it there I'm sorry I can see his point.
If he's got no people skills and goes off on one rather than explain well that's a different matter, but manners don't cost a penny.
