that is a good shout, boat at dunstaffnage and trailers back at the digs
Very good shout, just back from there. Launched and berthed overnight at Dunstaffnage Marina. Stayed at Trallee bay and used the trailer/boat parking area there. The parking is near the slipway, which is very exposed and only usable in near perfect conditions, also there is no jetty to use.
Probably going back next year and do the Islands, weather was too bad to do much more than Etive and a bit of coast hugging (falls of Lora in full flow was so much fun - we did it several times!) My Smartwave 4800 centre console at just under 5m cost £33 for in/out and one night on a berth + £20 deposit for a key fob for the gate and showers.

Oban in May with a large group will be what you can get versus what you want in most cases.

The odd room here or there will be easier for sure.

Did exactly the same, just back (12th to 15th Oct) Parked the trailer next to the caravan, the site was fine with that....we managed Jura & Islay on the Sunday and a wee trip up to Tobermory on the Monday before trailing home.

Video on youtube....Oban Jura Islay

Dunstaffnage do a special rate in the winter months

Puts you right in the mix and Suzuki dealer/Service on site too.

Also stayed at Craobh Haven and Oban Caravan Park in a Lodge all decent...after all it's all about the location and having you're Boats in the Water ready to GO that matters!
..Might see you about in May

Take a look at Salen, a wee bit further west from Oban. Crackin' marina facility, local pub and some nice houses to rent. Example: https://www.unique-cottages.co.uk/co...rnside-cottage

Back to the original post about 10 years ago if you can live with a luxury static theres a decent caravan park on Loch Sween with launching. You'd need an anchor (granted that may have changed) buy the 'vans were clean & well appointed... think they even had bbq facilities on the beach. I remember we went out, chucked a lure over the side & the bbq food almost jumped into the boat!

Stopped by during the summer. Food was good but a bit pricey. Marina charged us £10 for a short stay for lunch.......Won't be back ☹️
