Guernsey this Bank Hol

Anybody considering the Channel Isle this BH weekend?

Kinda thought we would leave the Solent on Friday AM with a couple of tents and bags for a bit of exploring etc. All weather dependant of course...

We have done this trip a few times in the past but in sailing yachts of various sizes.

Only really started looking at this over the last couple of days, will dig out some charts and pilots over the weekend for more info..

OK

Still shaping things up my end. Will go for a long range weather forecast on Monday/Tuesday with a final decision on Wednesday.

Kinda looking for a F3 max, 5 hour window sometime on Thursday as we begin to suffer in the open sea at higher windspeeds. Return journey can be up to a F5 as I can send my wife and kids back on the ferry..... Higher than that and I shall collect the rib via trailer and ferry!

More info soon

Hannah, they are talking about if the weather is really bad... people still have to get back for work etc... so if worst comes to the worst they will get the ferry back.... and collect the boat another day.

V Disappointed

It is with a heavy heart that I am cancelling my planned trip to the Channel Isle. Sorry to disappoint anybody who may have been considering this trip.

I have postponed this decision for as long as possible, but the weather has just gone too unpredictable for us. All the forecasts are showing possible F5s (and a bit of rain), all too much for me and family and a 5.3 metre rib.

Hats off to the MCA though who managed to register my rib in less than two working days. Now that's a government run department that seems to work well!

Perhaps there will be another window later on this year, watch this space if you are still interested. I will now be looking at maybe the Thames for a day or two this weekend. Any suggestions on launching around the Walton on Thames area?

Best wishes from disappointed Doug
