Being a local lad we've been traversing the bar all Winter so will be happy to show you the route on the way out.

We spend most of the Summer wakeboarding on the Ore so am fairly familiar with the area.

If wind over tide between the Deben/Ore then expect some lumpy waves especially at the river mouths.

Rich,

Sorry, we can only make it out to play on Saturday. The tides are the most favourable for us then too

High water at Snape Bridge is +1hr 45 Harwich which makes it 15:20ish at snape on Saturday and 16:45 ish on monday which is a bit late for CJL who is trailing back to London in the Evening.

See you on the water another day
Will

We have a few people coming from quite a long way away so its not really fair to change on them now.

The 'Plan'

Here we go,
Saturday 29th April

Launching from Slipway next to Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club MAP about 1000 so that we are able to leave on or around 11:00, or if you are launching elsewhere we can meet at the deben entrance for 11:00.

Launching - Day tickets are £10 from the Ferry Cafe or Sailing Club bar.

Tides, corrected for BST
Felixstowe Iken Cliffs
07:06 0.12 08:20 0.5
13:39 4.01 15:10 2.9
19:20 0.32 21:32 0.6

Snape is DRY at low water so we'll be going up on the rising tide and leaving around high water so there won't be any need to camp on the mud over night and wait for the water to come back.

The aim is to head out of the deben to the Orford Haven Buoy then head up the coast to the River Ore. We'll then follow the Ore into the River Alde to Snape for lunch about 14:00. Then back to felixstowe for a drink in the Ferry Sailing Club then home to bed.

The Deben and Ore entrances have constantly changing shingle banks, you are advised to look at the new sketch maps and aerial photos. http://www.debenentrance.com/downloads.html

It is around 20 miles from the Ferry to Snape. There will be no fuel available so please come prepared for 40+ miles and some spare.

Please leave a reply post, PM me or call to confirm you are coming and numbers so that i can book some room at the Inn (Plough and Sail PUB)

It's going to be a good day out,

Will

Ok, i am getting hungry now, and a pint of Broadside seems very temptin at 9am on a Friday morning, god i could do with a beer to wake me up

Have not had a look at the forum for the past couple of weeks as i have been busy organising and running my easter holidays. Now i am back at work i can get back to normality a bit.

Will, i hope this pub has got Heinz tomato ketchup, its so much more polite and condusive to one's chips than the other stuff that you get in sachets. Mind you, i have been known to tolerate Daddie's on occasions.

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, how are the new seat pods?

You drinking beer at 9am??? That's something I need to see. Normally I can't get you to drink beer at 9pm on a Friday night!!!

Friday Night Conversation -> "I'll have a pint of Stella for myself and a glass of coke for my alcohol phobic friend!"

I must admit i don t really drink too much these days but i am convinced that there is some link between Cola and major diseases. I am currently drinking Lemonade as it cant have as much colouring in it?

Dont have a go at me about coke ! Its the whole Tap Water thing i find Really excessive?
