Eastern Solent - Lunch/mooring

Hi,

Am having a long weekend based out of Sparkes marina, Hayling island in mid July. Can anyone recommend some good places for a nice lunch that has moorings nearby?

Thanks in advance

Eastern Solent - Lunch/mooring

Hi

Here’s a few thoughts - if the weather’s good it will be busy and the easiest mooring is mostly on the Isle of Wight.
There’s the Best Dressed Crab in Bembridge harbour. Try The Breeze at Island Harbour Marina on the Medina - if you call them on ch80 as you go past the Folly, you can moor on their outside pontoon. Or there’s the sailing club at Wooton Creek, they have their own pontoon and we got on there during Cowes week last year.
If the weather is really horrible, I would go to the outside pontoon at Chichester Yacht Basin, their restaurant isn’t bad.
If you don’t mind it busy in July, there’s Cowes or Yarmouth, if you’re going for a long weekend they’ll be ok on weekdays and well worth a visit.
Everything imo obviously.

If the weather make a long trip difficult the Light Ship in Haslar Marina, Portsmouth Harbour is always worth a look. If you make it to the River Hamble then the Rising Sun or the Jolly Sailor are old favourites, easy mooring outside both but watch the Jolly Sailor at low tide.

Thanks Ferryman, Dry Run and Wightdiver for your suggestions. Will give one or two of those a go.

Portsmouth has quite a few options. Either the lightship or Hardey's (opposite the marina office) in Haslar Marina. Gunwharf Quays with about 30 different eateries. The Spice island inn in old Portsmouth (visitors berths available I believe on the Portsmouth Sailing club pontoons). Port Solent - again several options.

If you're based out of Langstone harbour and fancy a short jaunt, the indian restaurant at Southsea Marina is second to none and has a roof terrace overlooking the marina.
