The first run out is always an adventure, cos the sandbanks have moved over the winter, its going to be fun fun fun, lol.

Either way guys your welcome to join us if you havn't already made plans, Infact anyone who fancies coming along is very wecome, Theres no set time or date at the moment and i'm happy to work with your time anyway. Worth bearing in mind we've got large springs this weekend so launching round here is best done three hours either side of LW Milford haven, Not so much of a problem if you have a light pushable trailer,
Regards
Paul.
If timings work out we'd love to join you - it's always better to cruise with someone local who know's the area and can give local advice.
Did you have a day in mind, and where would you be starting from?

Unfortunately I don't think this qualifies as a light pushable trailer! (unless your name is Hagrid of course).

I'll be out on the Straits over the course of the weekend, certainly on Monday as #1 son is at a sailing thingy at Plas Menai then.

Was out last Sunday (1 April) lovely sunny day, and so long as you go fast enough you get over most sand banks....

Hi Trev,
I kind of guessed you wouldn't have a lightweight trailer load, That was more for the benifit of others with smaller outfits that may want to launch in the Milford haven or Dale area. There's a bit more scope useing the Neyland or Hobbs point slipway but thats straight into a strong current when the tides running and the parkings not as good, As my trailer is unbraked im restricted to launching close to the Pembrokeshire yacht club by Milford haven. Which is reasonably sheltered with no speed limits once 300 yards out apart from boat passage ways under a few jetties. Other speed restrictions apply ten mile up the estuary and a few other sailing dingy areas. However we usually head out to open coast sometimes heading South when the range isn't firing missiles out to sea, I'll have to check the local rag and see if there firing over easter, However heading North we'd have no problem.
I've still no fixed date on the Ramsey trip yet and would preffer to go with neap tides, But if your around for the weekend the large tides can make for big overfalls if we get much wind against tide, Either way it would be great to get out over the weekend somewhere. Do you have any launch sites planed already, You also have the option of the marina's of course Neyland, or MIlford being the cheaper option but subject to lock gates, About £30 per night. Slipways are all free of any charge, And there's plenty option for safe anchorage, Feel free to pm me if you like i'll give you my number so we can sort something out.
Maybe I should start a new thread for a Pemb's outing and see if others interested in joining.
Cheers
Paul.
