We're going to try Craobh Haven and leave the trailer there. It should have a good slip and free trailer storage, and is a sheltered run for most of the way by sea to Easdale.

Weather prediction from 3 days out

Whilst it is still early and the weather forecast has been jumping around the current thoughts include
Saturday is likely to be dry, maybe a light shower somewhere between very early am to noon. There is not a great deal of rain forecast at present. Wind is a more difficult issue. It may be Force 4 from the south in the morning backing South west later in the day. The area of concern are potential gusts with some sites showing these to be Force 6. Whilst I reserve judgement At the moment I am not convinced this will be the case.

The forecast for Sunday is even more variable between websites. One is stating 6 to 8 knots whilst another is listing gusts to 32 knots. What is a constant is wind from the south therefore Loch Buie/ Carsaig looks extremely unlikely.

Working with the weather requires flexibility, there is always good boating to be had from Easdale and of course meeting up with friends old and new is part of the event

We are nearly there !

Launching, Recovering, the parking of trailers and vehicles.

Please park up at the former Highland Arts Car Park to make your boat ready.
Check there isn’t a queue at the launch ramp before bringing your boat down to launch.
Once launched please immediately take your vehicle and trailer to what we refer to as The Back Car Park. Follow the tarmac road in front of the houses on the foreshore. There is a 93 space car park. We have permission from Argyll & Bute Council Roads dept to park unhitched trailers in this car park. Please park prettily !

Just arrived at Craobh Haven. Lunching in the Lord of the Isles then lanching mid afternoon when the trailer bearings are cool. The wind is whistling - just like real Scotland should be!

For anyone up early (ie Friday) we're probably going to try and do a run to Tobermory on Friday - probably leaving Easdale 11ish and heading via Oban.
Will monitor 77 in case anyone wants to RV en-route.
Currently about 4 ribs planning to do the run.
(This isn't an official ERR run, just a heads up in case anyone wants to join us)

Weather update

As i view the sea this morning and take yet another look at all the forecasts we may just get away with visiting Colonsay. The wind forecast has gone back to 3 gusting 4 in some forecasts. Others are still dotted around. The test will be what sea conditions are like once 7 miles out and leaving the shelter of The Garvellachs. Neap tides help.
This evening i will hopefully persuade a couple of boats to head out that way and make an assessment of sea conditions out there for the smaller boats.
Fingers crossed

A number of RIBs are already here. Safe journey to the rest of you

Tony
