Cruise around La Turballe - France 12th - 31st Aug 09

Hi All
Anyone fancy joining us for Ribbing in France this Summer? We will be camping in La Turballe (near La Baule in the Vende) leaving the UK on 11th August and returning 31st August 09. We did it last year and had great fun - but ribbing with company would be even better. Places we will visit by boat will hopefully include Piriac, Le Croisic, La Baule, Ile Hoedic, Ile Houat, Belle Ille, etc.
Here are some picky's from last year.....
La Turballe Port, Le Pouliguen, Ill Houat, La Croisic and Piriac

I'd love to go, but I suspect my wife will have other Ideas. That's a really pretty part of Brittany. You going to venture to Vannes (Gulf of Morbhien)....Spelling ?

Do you trail the boat down there or cruise around the Coast?

We trailer the boat via the Portsmouth - Caen ferry route. This way we can get the camping gear in the car and 4 bikes in the boat. We looked at the Golfe du Morbihan last year to see if it was worth a trip - the jury's out at the moment but if it's blowing a gale from the Atlantic I suspect we'll give it a go for light relief as it seems very sheltered.

I'm sure I'll go one day. I have made some good friends in Vannes and even took part in my only Yacht race in the Gulf. Happy days

If there is a grey and red Solent 6.5m in La Turballe, it belongs to Paul and Kath who used to post on here as the "Jackeens"

Great part of the world, Brian "Bittentobugery" left his watch on Houat. For some reason it took more beer than fuel to return to the island to recover the watch.

Grea camp site but the mossies ate us alive in Aug 2006 unfortunately.

Pete and viv

Pretty sure it was Hoedic where the watch was mislaid, Pete.

We were certainly in the dog house that night and Kathleen made us pay for dinner for everybody. Think Paul was in a bit of trouble as he wasn't answering her phone calls. He did try his best though and when startled out of his short "rest" on the beach by the sound of his phone ringing, he duly set off to swim out to the boat to answer her call, only for the ringing to stop when the seawater got to the level of his shorts !!!!

ATB to you and Viv

Maybe we can use this as an excuse to send the kids out on a "watch-hunt" on every island we land on - it should keep them busy for a few hours!

I'll probably go diving around Houat & Hoëdic sunday. I'll leave from Le Croisic, stop off on the plateau du four, dive different points around Houat before coming back for an evening session off Piriac and passing in front of La Turballe on the way back to the slip in Le Croisic. Le Croisic has by far the best slip and parking facilities.

The Golfe de Morbihan is fine to shelter but there are speed limits all around. It's nice but for no more than a day.
