Cherbourg Visit 6th June 2009

Ive been planning a trip to Cherbourg from Hayling (just because its there) this weekend, but also because its D-Day + 65 as well. Weather permitting the plan is to leave early doors around 0600 get to Chantereye Marina, find hotel, relax until dinner and vino in the evening to return early next morning, before any sea breeze gets up.

If circumstances permit I would also quite like to find a bit of Cherbourg where I could offer some private thoughts for the memories of the men who went over in 1944 and never came back.

My problem is that the other two boats planned to go have dropped out,and as Ive not made a channel crossing before it seemed sensible to take at least three boats in case of any issues.

If anyone fancies this trip ( weather permitting) please get in contact asap, Ive spoken to the Marina staff and they tell me no problem, should be able to find a cheap hotel, or worse kip on board. Showers and all at Marina.

Any takers??
