You should be able to get along side Mainbrayce on Saturday morning and that would be much easier than trying to transport cans to either the commercial quay or the breakwater slipway. Why don't you pop in on Friday when you arrive to discuss timing.

I have just checked the tide tables and you should be able to get alongside Mainbrayce in the Inner Harbour until about 10-10.30. We are open from 8am as is the petrol station. Obviously the higher the tide the easier it is.

Assuming reasonable weather, what speed do you Jet-skiers like to cruise at?
We struggle at much under 24 - 25 knots (we come off the plane if we go much below this) but if this matches your comfortable speed we are happy to shadow you and Neil and carry fuel cans etc for you if required.

Can we have a collective 'handle' for the rabble leaving the Solent? Jim and I will be heading out of South Devon and will attempt to make comms on ch72 at some point mid channel.

Last year we ended up being the "Floptilla" - I guess we should be the "Floptilla 2010" this year!
Any other ideas?

Hi Trevor, @ 30 knots is 1/2 throttle, if the conditions are good we can use cruise control, fuel usage is @ the same between 25 - 45 mph.

Sounds good - we're happy to buddy up with and shadow you at least for the run over then - weather permitting we're hoping to do the extra few days in Sark but I'm sure we can make sure you have company for the run back.

Mrs A, Scurvy Crew and I are so jealous that we can't be coming with you. We will, however, be crossing with you; just a few hundred miles East and beneath the water doing Ashford - Coquelles, rather than over the water doing Needles - Braye!

Best wishes and good luck to you all

David

Roy we will keep a look out for you late pm we will be on the Yacht Club terrace.

Call sign was Floptilla on 72

Mollers we are leaving Needles Fairway buoy 1030 at 22/25 knots you should be able to work out an intercept for you route, we will listen out for you.

David we will raise a glass to you and the Mrs .

Anyone else wanting to go in the fast group ?

If we encounter fog like last year (30 miles of it) then 10knots group up and radar reflectors up please until we clear the shipping lanes, I have radar does anyone else or anyone fitted with a RTE .

Don't forget if bringing back duty free goods then you need the customs forms , and a q flag for when you get home.

Mainbrayce are agents for Duty Free alcohol and cigarettes and will be very happy to supply as required. We need a few hours warning before you are about to leave.

Would it be possible for the lead boat to know who they are and to respond to a call to Floptilla?

The barbecue has now been more formally arranged and an experienced caterer will be flipping the steaks and burgers for us. There will of course be a charge per head, but hopefully this will be very reasonable. Malthouse will be able to tell us more. This way it should ensure a good choice of food and side dishes to keep everyone happy. The only illness you should risk encountering now will be a hangover

For those of you with a penchant for gambling, there is a 'casino' night to raise funds for Alderney Week amongst other things. This is on the Friday (see ad below), but will require a commitment as tickets would need to be bought.

Mollers will be heading off in 'Hey Joe' as he's not brave enough to attempt the trip in an SR4.
