It's very simple really, no need for fancy passage plans and photos:-

Turn left at the needles
Head south for about two and a bit hours
If you can smell onions, you're too far east
If you can smell donkeys, you're too fast west
If you can smell beer, you're bang on

Some of you have already been in touch regarding fuel in Alderney and we can offer a RIBnet price of 10p a litre off the pump price. What would be helpful is an idea of quantities required and timings for fuel. For those of you came last year we do now have a couple of 50 litre cans but as you know the easiest way forward is for us to get your cans, fill them and return. However we have about 400 litres in stock but some forward planning as to timing with tides etc would help everyone. The petrol station is shut on Sunday afternoon so all boats would have to fuelled before 12 that day. High water is always easiest and this is at about 17.00 on the Friday evening and a few hours either side is no problem. Saturday high tides are at about 6 am and 6 pm. However we will do all we can to help as and when it suits. The chandlery does shut at 6pm but will stay open if required and with a little warning.

We also stock a full range of oils etc and will gladly offer all ribnet cruisers a discount off all chandlery just make yourselves known!

The water taxi runs from 8am until midnight and the price is still £1.50 each way per person as it has been for the last 6 plus years (£2.50 after 21.30). Call us on either channel 37 (M1), channel 80 or 07781415420.

If we can help in any other way please give us a shout.

Look forward to seeing you.

Penny

I am happy to flip a few bangers and burgers for the hungry mob, are there any others who would like to share this job, so we could have a split shift on the Barbie.
Comms in general will be 72 but can also use rib.net MMSI for group work.

Another quick point, is anyone bringing a tender? I shall have my first ever boat :P strapped to the front, but wait to find a suitable mounting position for its engine so it may be a man-powered craft

I assume all those going on the Sark extension will have a small landing craft as obligatory equipment?

That's fine but if you want your want cans filled the petrol station shuts at 5pm and it would be easier to take yours up there than transferring from our jerry cans into yours!

The cruisers x 3 will need about 300 to 400 litres each what would be the best time Friday or Saturday night to refill

When we get to Alderney can the cruisers have the moorings closer to shore as they rocked and rolled abit in the night last year.

Hi Tim

I assume we are talking diesel and either night will be fine and we are open until 6pm or later by arrangement. We will give them a Ribnet price if they let themselves known to us.

As for moorings these are run by the Harbour Office, who won't take bookings and are on a first come first served basis. Sorry I can't help on this one.

We should have our tender with us with a small outboard.

To get along-side in the inner harbour you will need well over 2m of tide.

There are landing stages on the commercial quay that have all tide access, see the pics posted earlier.

There is also the breakwater slipway that is ok at all but low springs, and not a bad place to load fuel.

You can get a tide table here:

www.alderneymarine.com/info/

Edit: I have added a map of the harbour area to the Floptilla page.
