I was talking to Ardglass Marina today about launching. In all but the lowest of tides (when there may be an hour's delay) there is no problems launching there. They say lots of guys (and gals!) launch ribs to go out diving from there. They also say the slip is long and wide and cost is £3 to launch and same to recover. They would be delighted to accommodate us on June 5th and are open from 8am to at least 10pm. If anyone wanted you could also launch on the Friday evening and tie up in the Marina overnight.

Good work Tony! Sounds fine. I don't know what my plans for Friday are although I plan to stay in Ardglass on return from the IOM.

I suspect that we will make the trip up on Saturday AM, keeps costs down and the rig will be more secure. Might leave the rib in the Marina Saturday night. More beer time! It'll probably depend on parking at the accommodation.

Have we come to an agreement on what time we are descending on Douglas yet?
Its not long now.
Things seem very quite from the welsh contingent, are you lot coming this year?

We will be passing through Friday evening at some point, possibly going down the M74 though depending on what we think of the two routes.
We can get across to Stirling and down quicker than going through Glasgow even though its longer............

I am now booked into Isle of Whithorn for the fri/sat nights, any idea when we are meeting in Douglas or are there plans at all?
If not I'll need to make arrangements to tie up etc over the next week or so. it close enough that folk must have an idea if they are going by now?

To make Douglas for 1100, I'd guess we'd need to be departing Ardglass for 0830 - it's c. 50Nm. I don't really think that that is realistic, but we three can discuss that at this end now. I'll be coordinating with Parm and Tonymac as this week progresses.

Donegaldan and myself are good to go (one rib) with another possible crew member/fourth rib, depending. He'd be a bonus, 'cos he's a Helicopter Whisperer.

Cypman/Brian have kindly offered advice/assistance with mooring/transport/line catching, so I think it would be rude of us not to avail...

Are the welsh lot not coming then? it looked earlier in the year if it was going to be loads of folk and its now just down to the Celts............
If 11:00 is the time I will plan to that. If the weather is good enough we will most likely come down the West side and round the bottom to Douglas giving us the shortest run home later.
The only thing left to organise is the marina which I will call about if nothing is arranged groupwise by the weekend.

We are heading from Largs Friday am, normally we would be heading to Peele, but where is everyone else heading?

If you are planning to overnight here then Peel is good. The inner harbour (marina) is protected by a water retention gate with access only available 2 hours either side of high water. This would provide access on Friday between 1500 and 1900hrs, with a Sunday departure between 0426 and 0826 hrs !!!
If you want all tide access it is either Douglas or Port St Mary harbours.

For all of you intending to visit us please let us know what you are planning to do and then we can do our bit at this end.

We are planning to arrive Douglas at approx 11am. Haven't made any specific plans yet on where or what to do when, and if, we get across as getting there seems enough of a leap of faith so far based on last years weather.
I am hoping there is a group plan of some sorts otherwise we just intend to have a wander around Douglas and try and watch a race or two where we can.
What are others plans?

Bump!

Fingers crossed, the long range WX is looking good (which is kinda wishful thinking, but at least it's not giving Gales).

Team (Northern) Ireland intend to make an early depart from Ardglass arriving (decending) on Douglas at 1100hrs to meet with Team Scotland (himself) and any Team Taffs that make it . Brave words indeed...

We're currently planning by PM so look quiet, but any other ribs from this side are very welcome to join up too. We'll be liasing with BruceB for moorings and hopefully Cypman and Brian for Craic when we get final plans - next day or so (Hi guys )

Yep, looks like I am on my own and have no friends for this trip
We will be coming down via Girvan after all passing around 3-4pm on Friday.
The tides are good for a Saturday morning launch and evening recovery at Whithorn and we will be leaving around 09:30 if the weather isn't flat for a direct run to Douglas or around 07:00 if its flat calm for a circumnavigating route round island to Douglas.
I can't figure out from the PM's if I am supposed to be organising something or not for anyone bar myself?
At the moment I am still working on us only for the Douglas end as well as Whithorn.

For clarity, we are currently 3 ribs, PAX TBC, arriving with you at c.1100hrs Douglas. Please include us in mooring arrangements with the HM. I'll keep you posted by PM with any changes/updates.

Damn shame about those shifty Welsh no-shows* letting the first RIBnet Pan-Celtic Gathering fall over :-)

I will be on the pontoon at Douglas to take your warps on arrival and can then provide you with the necessary information for a good day out !!
If I can get an idea of total numbers I can arrange for appropriate transport.
Is enyone going to need fuel?
