Although the weather isn't perfect, we're going to meet as planned Saturday and decide then;
A - Pasty Run
B - Social cruise / river cruise
Looking at the forecast its looking like plan B - but go we will

Fingers crossed for good weather next weekend.
Lunasea is now back on the water after 3 weeks on the drive tracing and sorting out a cooling problem and no tell-tale
Planning to run down from Brixham ETA 0830 depart to join and stay overnight if Sun forecast is good.

I’m going to have to bow out. It would have been great to see you all but with house viewings and the lock broken in Sutton Harbour I’m not going to be down in time for free flow in the morning.

Sorry - Sunday didn't really happen due to the rain, fog and sea state.
We did get afloat and had a bounce about but The Mess at the Yacht Haven was the back up for breakfast.
We are looking at a run the 16th / 17th August where we can finally find a pasty along with a cake, tea, pint etc

I forget to update here as I only access this via the laptop, usually through the changes onto the facebook event as it's on me phone.
Really just need one social media point, but with different people on different platforms it's challenging.

Had a fantastic time thanks, great to meet you all too.
August sounds like a plan. I'll have to check nearer the time though as I know we have some family visiting around then.
I snapped a few pics as we went up-river.

The 13th annual Pasty run was planned for the 5th July, did we get afloat, enjoy the Plymouth area and find a pasty? Unfortunately, only two out of three was achieved, with the pasty being the missed option.
A F5 wind was forecast, and for once they weren’t wrong. What they didn’t say was the constant drizzle, heavy down pours and the occasional fog bank that would be thrown into the mix too. That said, we still went afloat and had a great trip.
Instead of hunting a pasty at each of the Plymouth Lighthouses (one as hiding at one of them) a social cruise up the Tamar to Calstock was plan B, along with some culinery delights along the way.
After enjoying the Eggs Benidict at Mayflower Marina 5 boats met up at Breakwater Fort where the decision was made to make best use of the shelter the river could provide and head to Calstock.
The team headed up past the moored English and German ships before taking a good look at the Nuclear subs tied along side. Not dawdling too long we pushed on up river towards Pentillie Castle (where they film part of Beyond Paradise) and Cotehele House and gardens. There are some areas of open speed and areas of restricted speed through the mooring areas on this stretch. It’s the prettiest part of the river and the wildlife was superb with cows enjoying the shallows and waders / river feeders a plenty on the shore lines.
As it was now drizzling again we headed up to Calstock Viaduct, one of the real wonders on this trip. Its stone, it’s massive and its just superb. That said as we arrived at Calstock the sun came out and the waterproofs, were stored in the massive seat lockers on the Patrol for the first part of the journey back. I say first part as we managed about 5 minutes before they were retrieved and put back on!
One of the best tea rooms on the river is at Weir Quay, the cake here is just huge, they serve in slabs, not slices. 8 of us wanted to stop, tried to stop but a £10 mooring charge introduced by the yard from July really didn’t encourage us to stop and stay. So it was off to Saltash and the tea room there. The cake may not be as good but the tea is served in proper mugs and the cake just nice.
As people departed for their evening berths the sun once again came out and an evening at the Borrington Arms was enjoyed.
Sunday again saw the massive storage capacity on the Patrol used, the back lockers contained overnight and crew bags along with first aid kits, survival bags, throw bags and repair kits as we were set up for a days safety boat cover.
The planned breakfast trip to Salcombe was again binned due to the mist and sea state so a great serving from The Mess was enjoyed before the Annual Yealm Race was looked after along with a couple of other Patrols, one with the Sport seats for the helm! Boy did that look great and I’m gutted we didn’t get a picture. They do mean you lose the off set console which restricts the deck space, but it’s a great option for long days afloat.
Due to the shortened course and numbers we were soon released and headed back to Saltash for tea and cake before loading the Highfield back on to the Extreme trailer for the trip back home.
Despite the weather we managed just short of 50 nm over the two days, spent in great company in a superb location for boating.
