16.5 foot Warrior fishing boat - 75 hp Mariner - Chandler's Ford, Hants - 23 Nov 06

Yes I know it's not a rib but it's still boat crime and it's scary 'cos they've driven it straight out from my friends driveway!!

16.5 foot Warrior fishing boat stolen yesterday from Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh - believed to be stolen by maroon/burgundy 4x 4 at lunchtime, they tried taking on Tuesday.

The boat is white, no name, has full navigation lights, blue cover with blue pedestal seats and blue back bench, front anchor locker.

The engine is a 75 hp Mariner - now knackered as they drove it away without raising the engine - the end of my drive tells the story.

Indespension (3?) braked trailer.

Boat ref or HIN was WBT00001F300, the 1 might be an I.

Engine serial nr OT788698.

Obviously if anyone has any information then if they could PM me or let the Hampshire plod know that would be great. I would also be grateful if you could post this on any other forums you can think of (I am off to Boatmad next!).

Thanks

Sorry to hear of the loss.

Was the trailer/boat secured in any way. Just so the rest of us can try and stop the same thing happening.

Yes, wheelclamp and trailer bar lock apparently. It turns out that someone spotted them scouting it on Tuesday and saw a maroon 4x4 driving off with it on Thursday evening and didn't do anything!!!!

Unfortunately, I don't think there's any surefire way to secure these things... All the locks in the world only keep the honest people honest... All the bastards need is bolt-cutter or high speed grinder...

I know one guy who puts his trailer up on jacks and removes the wheels if it's in his driveway for long!

Incidently, I have a burgundy 4 x 4, AND a good alibi!

Hitchlock,Ground anchor, stainless chained to the centre of the trailer axle and an onboard tracker/pager alarm...

I also jack a wheel off of the ground chock up and remove it ,and the remaining wheel has a clamp,a hitch lock,a large chain like nos4 r2 and a bloody big dog that can make the end of the driveway quicker than you can.

Right, bit of an update from over the weekend (the plod appear to be really doing the business on this!)

Boat was stolen between 2.00 and 2.30pm on Thursday. The maroon 4x4 was still involved (seen scouting on Tuesday and in attendance Thursday but the boat was driven off behind a white van.

The most frustrating/amusing part of the tale is that the thieving shites are going to have a real problem with the engine as they managed to forget to lift it before driving off and as a result have left numerous dents and gouges out of at least 3 roads on their way out of Chandlers Ford. This MUST have damaged the engine to a point of needing some fairly extensive repairs so please bear this in mind when looking at ads or if you have spares for sale and get requests.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance. I know my friend is chuffed with the response and just hoping that it all leads to a good conclusion.

And finally, just to really make you smile, the insurance company are sending a loss adjuster out. I wonder what he'll make of an empty driveway........................

Any pictures, so that we know exactly what we're to keep an eye out for?! (Apart from a skegless outboard)

I've just received the "missing" poster and photo but am struggling to get it re-sized to add to this. I am off out now but will get it done on my return.

Didnt make any difference for our club boat sitting in the uni compound with a sheared wheel hub - they lifted the whole lot onto a flatbed and drove off.
