Valiant Pt520 test

Here’s a little video I stitched together from some clips we took.
It’s nothing fancy as the purpose was to try out my new to me rib not to film it fully.

It’s a Valiant Patrol 520 with a Mercury 80.
Goes well so far. I like it.

Looking good Gary, but where are you storing your Gin?

When you and Pieter have launched are you just parking on the road?

i had a valiant v570 for a while and i was quite impressed with that considering it was only a medium v hull it was surprisingly comfortable in rough seas .it was in as new condition yet 10 years old so was holding up well tubes pvc were as new and it had a solid feel about it . i went into it not expecting too much and was pleasantly surprised even the fake teak decking started to grow on me

This is quite an old boat but has had new hypalon tubes fairly recently and is a good project for me. Seems solid overall and I like the hull.
Hoping for a trip to Scotland next month so will gain more experience of how it handles then.

The bit where I would have liked to of seen was in the wash of that first large vessel to see how it handled some chop (when you turned off the camera ). A test for me would be testing a boat in adverse sea conditions, hopefully you get to test it out in some poor weather and make another video.

I’d like to have seen that too. But it wasn’t me filming . It handled it very well though.

I’m sure I’ll get to test it in some rough conditions soon enough. The purpose of this test was a first run with support in case anything drastic failed. It’s an old boat that hasn’t been maintained very well in the last few years. I just wanted to check it out on the sea.

Following this test I’ve had to fit a new gear selector cable and also a different prop as it was under propped for my intended use.

I’ll likely continue making YouTube videos again with this rib so people will see it in action a little more in the future.

Look forward to seeing them in the future. For me it's not just good to see boats in action but also good seeing where I used to live before leaving the UK.
