Cracking job on the hull refurb. Good job.

I see the cone ends are goosed. Pity, but repairable. I've done the same repair on a Zodiac.

Can the lower leg on the Yammie be fixed? I like staying with the original gearbox, but appreciate it's maybe beyond saving. Spot weld?

Hi all

Getting bits back on now.

With the leg I will fix with liquid metal, an epoxy of sorts, sets super hard and good water resistance. Cleaned out all the salt deposits. No entry to gearbox.

Although the oil was very black, must have not been changed in ages. The impeller was really needing a change.

Back flushed the engine and ordered a new thermostat as the old one was stuck open.

the photos seem to rotate, need to work that out.

Got a back rest as recommend by you guys, its spot on. Fits great, made up a martine ply backing board to spread the load.

Backrest will be done when all back to work. Board done but I don't have the skills for the cushion and vinyl.

Got the rev counter mounted back in. Painted the case. Someone in the past has made the holder out of fiberglass. Well made. Can't be original avon? Does anyone know?

Put in the cable management. Got someone on my previous rib to do the battery electrics, he assisted on this one to put in an isolator which I like the idea of having. He has the pro crimper and proper marine terminals.

Waiting on the back rest.

Made up an anchor holder to fit in the forward fuel tank area.

Half way through making a small toolbox for basic tools / spare spark plugs / safety kit etc. Space under the seat to utilise.

Got the yamaha spray cans, primer / blue / topcoat. Primer just done tonight, hopefully get the blue on tomorrow.

The repair seems really solid to the leading edge.

Nice job on the painting. I can imagine the Yammie stuff is good quality.

Box looks good! I want to paint my leg soon, do you clear coat it or just the solid colour ontop?

Really interesting, thank you.

I've got this to do, but I am waiting to do sea trials and establish that my motor is as good as I think it is before wasting my paint on a pup (don't want to count chickens before they hatch).

Your gearbox looks great and I have the same paint. Happy days.

Yamaha 3 stage paint. Was advised you need the clearcoat to assist with the waterproof / UV protection.

Too wet today to put the colour coat on, have to be tomorrow.

Mock it up with gaffa tape, and see what you think.....mine was much better, but was a little underpowered.

Will certainly try it, good idea with gaffa tape. Can't wait to get it on the water!

Got the new thermostat, all fitted, works well in a land test (put in saucepan and heated up in water)

Blue paint on now on the lower leg. Ready for clearcoat tomorrow.

The paint is like blue metal flakes coming out of the can, weird, very different to regular car paint. But goes on easier than car paint, in that it seemed easier to get a good finish. I've not done much rattle can painting.

you can see the repair I did on the leading edge and back a bit. A bit faint but definitely there, anyway came out OK. Not sure if you can use some sort of filler to fair it perfect, but was not sure what would work in marine environment. Maybe west epoxy. Have to try on next boat ;-)

What made you decide to sell it after all the work you put into it?
