Sopot Boat Show 17-20 Aug 2006

Just a few shots from the Sopot Boat Show. Parker Ribs put on the water 4 ribs , two of which set up for Seasafari rib trips. the third was my Seahawk 4 a Parker 750RS and a Parker 630 with the Verado 150HP

The rib rides were similar to those we run at Ribex only the public had never experienced any like that . We ran both ribs just about none stop.

Those who have been to Sopot will no doubt recognise the Grand Hotel in the background

Very nice Andre. I visited the area 6 years ago with work. Looked a quite different landscape then, with a foot of snow and Sub 20 degrees . I did however visit Gdansk in the Summer and what can I say, a very wonderful old city with good food and drink.

Have you been to the Maritime Museum?

You mean the Maritime Museum in Gdansk on the other side of the canal. Yes I have. Interesting place. The same goes for the ship museum "Soldek" which is the first vessel built in Poland after the war.

Took a ride there on a Griffon 2000TD hovercraft in sub zero temperatures. Will post some pictures this evening

Terriffic I'd be interested to see those.

Going back to the Maritime Museum, we were staying in the Hanza Hotel by the old crane. Three of us walked down to the canal and saw a little ferry (bridge was only 400metres up the path) we asked if could take us over and he started his engines, we boarded and he took us across to the other side. It cost only 15p for the trip and hardly seemed worth taking us over for that price. When we were finished walking around the Museum he could see us from the other side, came over and took us back. When we tried to pay him for his troubles he indicated that the 15p we'd already payed him was the return price .

We gave him a very hearty tip (what we thought the trip should have cost), it was bloody cold and we recon that we'd been his only customers all day.

Every time he saw us walk past on the way to the Old square, he would give us a wave.....What a nice old guy .

By the way Andre, do they still serve EB beer there?

Do they ever. Just as I remember it, just a little Darker .

I went to the Scottish Pub, but all that Bagpipe music was a little too much .

I do remember a Vietnamese type restaurant that was very good. Have you been to the Euro? Very a-la-carte.

On a sober note, I did visit a local Death Camp. I think that everyone should go and visit one. It's one of those places you don't really want to go to but feel compelled to go. Very Sad.
