The brown 110 had a 4.6 V8 on LPG, probably my favourite engine and car, it never bettered 13mpg on one tow it did 7mpg some of it on petrol - painful. There current 110 is sadly an oil burner though I have been quite impressed with how gutsy the 2.8 Isuzu motor is, and you can hear the turbo spin up almost the same as the induction wine of the V8 at full throttle. I do miss manouvreing on the clutch only.
As a matter of interest (and apologies if I am bringing back painful memories) how much damage did the boat actually sustain. I ask because several years ago I rounded a corner on a Hampshire to be met by an overturned rib and trailer. Along with several others I helped right it and was surprised at just how little damage was visible. The guy even said he was still going ahead with his plans for a day on the Solent!!!!

Regards

Andy

Bent screen rail
burst one tube (crushed plastic object penetrated it)
flooded engine with gear oil
snapped VHF antenna
Damage to radar reflector
damage to axle that hit post

All repaired by Ribcraft arranged through insurance, do not know the cost as our club committee handled it. Ribcraft said we got off lightly as the boat did not tumble over and over just went onto her side and stopped.

More interesting still was the almost instant large invoice from the golf club to make good the post. We know someone in the area they went to have a look and they photographed a non repaired post in similar state to when we left. Talked to a guy at the caravan site who said "oh yeah, that post I hit that one too with a gig trailer" its a heavily scarred post in very poor location doing not much.

Goes to show the importance of correct strapping. Could have been a lot worse, I know the bend your referring too, it's not much distance from another sharp (ish) bend so I'm guessing you hadn't built up any speed beforehand.

Heres ours,

It towed the rib very well, no dramas and will do so all day long.

The dog says it is a doddle!

Wheels are called "Blindo", you can get them online from Silverline.

They are the same that military use for their heavy duty landies, apparently the strongest alloys you can get.

They come in Anthracite or Sand colour as standard, but am not sure if you can get them any other colours.

Not Cheap, but I think they are good!

I got them sent fitted with BFG All Terrains. good all round tyre, and not too bad on motorways either.

don't be giving Kerny any more free ammo, he already thinks all land rover owners are "Anoraks" as it is

Using my 110 to launch the Ribtec.

Thought I had a photo of the Series 1 towing my Tomkat somewhere, but can't instantly find it!
