I just selected the last two as due to the impressive air! The remainder of the gallery can be found here: Ribcraft 4.8 Gallery

I haven't driven one for along while but I seem to recall they gripped well in the turns and generally felt bigger than 4.8m. Very highly regarded boats, dthey were used on the RB4 a few years ago.

My mate's got one - it's a great little boat, nicely balanced, dry, comfortable, etc.

Maybe one day, he'll post some pics of it on here.

First pic looks like it's taken during the Ribcraft 4.8 mating season

The one I drove had dark blue tubes and a lovely Mariner/ Merc 60HP 4stroke efi on it, did over 35 knots, had the usual Ribcraft build quality and I fell in love with it! I don't know if you have seen Roy's Voyager, I haven't myself but I have seen/ used a 585 and this is a smaller version, check out the quality on Roys when you get a chance.
Cost: around £7-8k for a decent second hand one and around £12k new

Theres a few here:

got your name written all over it!!!

Its all on here: www.ribcraft.co.uk
and you can download a price list there, I would think anywhere between £12-13k should spec a decent boat and trailer and engine. Although that yellow one I posted is new with a Honda 50 and thats only a touch over £10k. Have a chat with Roy as he probably knows the options and pricings. May also be worth PM'ing Jimbo, who specced one for his University Sailing club pics here Also drop Robin a pm as he had a yellow one with a 50 Etec Evinrude.

Cheers Alex
Got to get her indoors convinced of the massive advantages etc etc .
This year in the little honda is a break in period , and I think when she gets a drive of a proper rib then the seed will grow. Well it did with bikes , my mate took her for a ride on his now she has passed her test and got a bike .
Tiller steering is not wife friendly , the concept of pulling the tiller right to go left just doesn't sink in ever ,

No probs at all, im sure she will see the advantages over the weekend, you could get a used 585 along a similar lines to Roy's for not much more money, which would provide even more security. The advantage of a 4.8 though is that most things will tow it and it will fit in a standard garage. Loads of good advice on here so don't rush into anything

Yes next season hopefully . If I changed the honda now having just got it I would be in trouble .

I like the smaller boat for easy storage at home and mainly economy of an engine below 70 hp . Definatly secondhand is the way I shall go . Its the not losing too much money on it bit that wins the points with wifey .

You said it , No honestly she isn't too bad on the bike (650 kawasaki )
My mate is an instructor so he had all the hard work , me I just don't get involved .
But that tiller thing is scary driving the boat is a nightmare , I can't let go for more than a few seconds . I tell her to head for something and take my eyes off for a moment and we have turned around and dropped off the plane . She just says its my job to drive and thats it . There is no way Ill get to try the donut

Indeed. I think there were 5 Ribcraft 4.8m's on RB4 IIRC, including this one, Team Spirit which started with a Suzuki 4st and ended the event with a Yam 50 4st after the saddle mounts broke on the Suzy shortly after this pic was taken! Cracking little boats, probably the best performing/seaworthy RIB of its size.

Ribcrat 4.8
Superb.
All of the picures of the yellow one on the Ribcraft site are mine.

www.ribcraft.co.uk/images/4803.jpg

The 50hp etec was excellent.
A 60 hp 4 stroke would be excellent too.
I would definitely buy another one of these if I was in the market for a rib that size.

Charlie, the ribcraft engineer, has fitted out a 4.8m for his personal use, with a 75hp etec on the back! It's overrated, but damn it must be fun!

Alex, I agree wholeheartedly! The uni 4.8m is the best sub 5m boat I have ever helmed (Sorry Rogue, I even rate it above a Searider 4.7) and we were out in some fun conditions today, which the Ribcraft handled very well considering her size.

The waves always seem to get flattened by a camera, but here's a photo you might like to add to your collection, taken about 4 hours ago

When you're back from exams, you must come out for a play...

Found the link to this - http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread....light=Ribcraft

The spec you see there cost just under £14k, and Jason threw in some free paddles

We didn't even try negotiating on price though.
