Nice day out to Iles Chausey

Unfortunatly we had to postpone our cross channel epic that we had planned due to a variably poor forcast (when we get the ferry at Cherbourg this afternoon it won't be funny how flat calm it is) so we had a day out around our coast and made a little jaunt to a favourite haunt - LOL - for a sandwich lunch. First time we've ever taken much video footage there, so I thought you might be interested

That's what put him off Getting there yesterday would have been absolutely fine, but we would have had to have left fairly early today to avoid the 25knt gusts of this afternoon etc etc. Not a risk worth taking - he recons at least!

Couldn't be faffed with the tender (although we had originally planned on bringing it) and as a general rule we do not beach the Vipermax.

Predictably, the channel we have just crossed was absolutely millpondish all the way. Hardly a ripple, and as we are pootling into Portsmouth as I write, the water is like a mirror. Why oh why did he trust the forecast?! We could have gone all the way at 45knts+ . Oh and this "high speed" ferry blew up an engine half way along so we spent an hour at 6knts until the "broken engine became fixed". So we are an hour and a half late, going to be a rush to the chippy to get there in time!!

Anyway, we will re-attempt at the end of the month!

If it is any consolation, had you ended up doing the crossing today it would not have been so much fun. It has been blowing a six all day mid channel.

Although Friday was the original plan, the forecast soon ruled it out at the start of the week and we had been banking on Tuesday. Anyway, re-schedule for the 27th June?
