New USA member (Maybe?)

Met a nice guy at the Bay today who had been checking out the Ribnet site.
He had a 6m Zodiac hurricane which he had "stolen" from a friend at a great price. Lets just say his whole rig as seen cost less than my engine How come I am never lucky enough to drop on deals like this
So come on "C", I know you are checking out the site, so join up and swell the ranks of Ribsters here in San Diego. (need some help when all the Brits gang up on me
Great day for cruising , with blue skys and in the 70's. Eat your hearts out you soggy Romsey crew
Had to throw in a photo of the Sealions .Ok so I am obsessed
cheers Dal

Do the sealions get stopped as much as you??? I bet they don't - I call that discrimination - they could easily be Al Queda SEALS.....

'tis us...the soggy Romsey crew!

Hi Darrall

great shots!! Glad to hear you have RIB company! the sealion on the top bunk (so to speak) looks pretty uncomfortable....and how did he get there!?

So you've heard...we've had the odd drop of rain....but it really has been very warm (hotter than Turkey one day last week!!) so stop boasting!!!

Not to miss out on those marine life photography sessions we're visiting you next year, after Arizona, so get the RIB all polished up and put the kettle on! Mind you, that's if we're allowed in...we still have our "I 94" green forms from september so strictly speaking your Department of Homeland Security think we're still there. Mmmm!! That makes us illegal immigrants from December!

Just a thought limey, but those sea lions are the favourite dish of my favourite fish, The Great White. I know they are around san diego, aren't they? Any chance of some pics of one of those nibbling on your tubes!

That is a sweet looking rib. The seals must be trying to avoid the red tide we've been having. It makes them go crazy. My sinuses are plugged from surfing in the red tide, ungh...

Rodan,
yes, La jolla one of my favorites also.
The marine sanctuary there is teeming with wildlife which gets very used to having people dive and snorkel there.
Just 10 feet off the beach and you see seal/garibaldi/sand shark and all sorts of fish.
It's a shame as people still like to take advantage and just recently a spearfisherman shot a 200 lb bass in the protected cove.
He is now facing jail and a stiff fine
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/m...-1m25fish.html

Seems the fish was so tame ,it used to be a local charachter and approached swimmers often. Lots of skill in spearing that
cheers Dal

I remember a fantastic set of footpaths on the cliff just down from Torrey Pines. Pity about the spearfishing, not so keen on that but each to their own I guess. It becomes a little insignificant when you see what some countries are plundering from the sea.

Did the guy know what he was doing, or was he just randomly spearing fish?

The guy knew what he was doing
Read the last paragraph of the report. Seems he has a record of such activity and shouldn't even be in the country!
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/m...9-6m3bass.html
Didn't seem much of a fine for a repeat offender,so maybe with luck he will be deported.Oh I forgot Bush is in charge;so no chance
Cheers Dal

Kinda makes me want to. A 50 year old human friendly fish is something I would love to encounter. I'm sure the locals would be quite pissed once the word spreads.

Someone please give Mr. Limey a recruitment credit for another San Diego Rhibster. I've joined the ranks, can I keep my American accent?
