Pod of dolphins swimming under the bow on a lovely afternoon with calm seas

Fantastic.

I've come across them a couple of times. The National Trust guy told me a steady 8 knots is about the right speed for them to play around the boat.

dolphins

Hi Sarah

The video makes it look much faster than it was! (Under 10 knots). By the way the dolphins were swimming and playing alongside us for so long, safe to say they were enjoying themselves!

Hi Java@Poole and welcome to the forum lovely looking boat.....

See you've removed the vid....and i'm really not going on a witch hunt with this one, but do agree with Sarah, vid did look a little fast for cruising with the Bottlenose Dolphs you encountered.

I agree that it is a fantastic sight!! But it may be of interest to you to have a look at the guidance here (from Pembs MC, but code still applies) in case you should be lucky enough to meet up with them again http://www.pembrokeshiremarinecode.o...%20conduct.htm

A friend of mine is the strandings officer for Wales...unfortunately prop and hull strike are far more common than you might imagine

Whatever the rights or wrongs of this, many more are now aware of guidlines for dealing with encounters AND

it's good to see they are around in the local area. Hope to see much more of them on their terms (we follow the WiSe guidlines)
