Lough Ree ( Ireland )

Saturday was our first run of 2012,

the IWAI Powerboat Branch held its first meet of 2012 on Lough Ree, leaving & returning to Lakeside Marins Ballykeeran ( 27 miles covered ), calling to Nun's Island & then to Barley Harbour for "hot" drinks.... onto Lecarrow for lunch, returning to Athlone for an excellent evening meal ( 42 peeps ) & overnite in The Radison Blu Athlone but the 4am bedtime on Sun morning may not have been a good plan....

The pictures are a credit to the IWAI Powerboat branch.

It is very clear that all types of powered craft are made welcome and I was delighted to see so many young people who often are alot wiser than the oldies.

Would you post the date for the outing in Lough Derg when you get it on the off chance that I might be free to take a run down

no problem.........

to participate in an IWAI event, one does need to be a member of a branch ( required for insurance reasons ), anyone in NI the cheapest way is to be a member of one of the NI branches,

The Inland Waterways Association of Ireland

Thanks for the heads up - I will definitely do that - does it make any difference if I join the Powerboat branch instead of Newry?
