Crosshouse Hard Slipway - Southampton low tide

I launched the other day from the slip at Crosshouse Hard, under the Itchen Bridge in Southampton, and just managed to get the rib back on the trailor before the tide went out even further from the end of the slipway.. I took a couple pictures of what is lying underneath the slipway at low low low tide. Yep there are a couple of metal runners at low tide, in the middle, and a couple outside of them, so if anyone has ever scrapped the boat of the boat at low low low tide... then you'll know why!!!

It's suprising how many people lauch there who have absolutely no idea the steel is there. I came back late once at very low water a few years ago and saw them for the first time. People don't believe you when you tell them either!

I've just emailed Geoff at BoatLaunch to suggest that he adds a note, and possibly pictures, to the Crosshouse entry on their database!
