.....because someone has placed a moratorium on bass fishing....I was even raking up cockles in desperation...

1. Recreational bass fishing
For recreational fishers, from 1 October to 31 December 2018, not more than one specimen of European seabass may be retained and landed per fisherman per day. Any additional bass caught during 2018 must be returned immediately. This applies if you are fishing from a boat or from the shore.

Please note: for recreational bass fishing this also applies to ICES area VIa and not just IVb, IVc, VIIa-k.

No we've got that one covered, we dredge up all the scallops along their shores in the months when they are banned from getting them and flog them back to them, as price is good as they have no supplies........clever. No winkles under our fisherman's feet.

Months when they can't fish, sell them back "shock". What's happening over there, I thought the government let them do what ever they liked. Must of toughened up since I left

Concerning Our BELOVED Mackerel .
It can't be as bad as the situation I recently saw for myself ...At least there aren't Council AND Privately Financed Security patrols like at "Hope's Nose" in Devon a wonderful spot that has always almost guaranteed a good feed of the Blue Darlings!..
Bands of young "None locals" taking ship loads of Mackerel, from the Beach and threatening other local Anglers and "indigenous" Population

....Makes one truly wonder What this (once) wonderful Country is descending into!

Just a heads up that this thread looks like it might just be sliding towards politics, which of course is off limits on RIBnet.

Let’s stick to the fish. There are plenty of more appropriate places to discuss fisheries policy if anyone feels inclined.
