Anglesey and Bardsey

took advantage of a reasonable forecast last weekend, launched and recovered the SR4 both days at Ty Calch just outside Caernarfon, went round Anglesey on Saturday, met up with Jeff, Sandy & Gary on the way back just outside Menai, so we cruised back together through the Swellies, then despite a lumpy crossing over Caernarfon Bar it was a great run along the full length of The Lynn to Bardsey Island, the overfalls were in full flow across Bardsey Sound, but had a break in the anchorage, then headed back across the sound to Porth Dinllaen for a coffee break, then a last brew at Pilots Cove before crossing the Bar and back to Ty Calch, and blew a few cobwebs off "It's Enuff" [emoji41]

from Sth Stack and Gogarth Bay I headed across to The Skerries for a quick lunch break, then a steady run down to the old brickworks, Moelfre lifeboat station, then Puffin Island and The Menai Straits with great views of Snowdonia ......

Sunday morning dawned grey and damp, so after waiting for the weather to improve a bit I set off across a very lumpy Caernarfon Bar, fortunately once past the fairway buoy the sea was near enough flat calm, so I set a course for the hills at the far end of the Llyn, around 20nm away. when I reached the small island of Maen Mellit the overfalls were getting stronger so I headed inshore where it was a but flatter and carried on under the impressive sea cliffs towering above. at the end of the Llyn I headed across Bardsey Sound with mounting overfalls, on reaching Bardsey I headed round to the anchorage for a brew and something to eat, watching the seals sunbathing ........

carrying on round past Bardsey and the lighthouse, I headed back across the Sound which was much calmer now, then set a course for Porth Dinllaen, around 15nm, where I stopped for a coffee break, Ty Coch is supposedly one of the best 10 beach bars in the world, nice pint but not today .............

last cup of coffee sitting in the sunshine at Pilots Cove, the view along The Llyn to Bardsey around 26nm away and just out of sight, but not a bad view of Snowdonia, then back across the Bar to Ty Calch ......

distances for each day approx 70nm around Anglesey, 65nm for the Bardsey trip, guessing around 30litres of fuel for each day, the SR4 is a brilliant rib and the Honda 50 is whisper quiet and not bad on fuel either [emoji41]

thanks Jeff, yeah enjoyed both days, Bardsey is a long haul but worth the effort for the scenery, the pics don't do it justice, really pleased with the SR4, it's 3 years since it was launched, think it's just about right now [emoji106]

thanks Dave, there's a good selection that you get a rib into around Sth Stack, in
Abraham's Bosum and Gogarth Bay, there's a very narrow one, SR4 just fits in, near Llithaen and then there's some bigger ones around Aberdaron, but I've not explored those yet ...........
