I hope this works - I have attached one of my favourite pics of my wee Rib - does anyone recognise the location?

You can try this with any pic of your Rib - as long as it has a prominent landmark in the picture!

Nice try, you got the country right, but its not a loch, and it's a bit further south than Loch Fyne.

The location has been used in two recent drama series on TV, starring a well known 'ex-corrie'.

Any more ideas?

Nope, not fly rods, just uptiders! We just went fishing that weekend, but followed it up a few weeks later with a fortnight of tubing, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding (for those able to stay up). The fishing weekend was a cracker, and the following pic shows me doing my Lawrence of Arabia impersonation to avoid sunstroke on the second day.

Nope not Holy Island, you are going a bit too far south there!

Next clue..... When you go out the harbour, you can see the lighthouse off Belfast Harbour -- if it's a clear day that is!

I think we gotta give you this one - its actually Portlogan, a few miles further south. The drama series '2000 Acres of Sky' was filmed here and it's been fun recognising bits of the village.

The harbour has a concrete slipway, which gives straight onto hard sand, which means you launch/recover off the concrete at high tide, and off the sand at all other times. A 4x4 is not neccesary, I manage fine with a VW Passat, even at the lowest of tides.

It's a lovely wee place, and the fishing is excellent!

It was a glorious weekend wasn't it? Just looking at the pic has me greasing trailer wheel bearings and dying to get back out there! Maybe soon mate - when can you manage a weekend?

If you guys are ever coming to Portpatrick/Port Logan/ Whithorn etc., please let me know.

I am dying to get my rib out over the winter and if the weather's fine it can only be an hour or so over for me.

Hi Jon,

We normally have the family summer hols (2 weeks) on the Mull of Galloway, have been doing this for years & years, but I have added a few weekend trips in this year. In the summer we take the caravan and meet up with all the rest of the crowd on site, my mate Mark M brings his tribe from Essex, Stu wheels his lot up from Manchester etc etc. Most of us have Sibs of one sort or another, so they can go in the caravan for travelling, but 2 years ago I got my first Rib. My current Rib (the little Narwhal in the pic) so impressed everyone that Mark F has now bought one, and Mark M is currently looking for one! With more than one Rib in the fleet, we have already talked about day trips to Ireland next summer (especially if the weather is as good as this year), and the Isle of Man has to be a candidate too.
Most of time we mess about with tubing, kneeboarding, etc, always with more than one boat out, some generating big wakes so we can get the tubes airborne - just a great big hoot! S'funny, but I seem to have aquired a reputation for making sure all my tubers end up in the water - I can't imagine why!
When its too rough for watersports, we have packed 4 or 5 bodies in the Rib and went wave-jumping - a real blast!
At the moment, we are trying to organise something in October, so if it works out, I'll let you know - the more the merrier!
You probably realise already that you don't have to be mad to enjoy messing about in boats - but it certainly helps!

It's 5m, with an old (but regularly serviced) Johnson 70hp 2 stroke on the back.

nope thats port logan - they do really good roast pheasant at the pub down the road - there is port logan fish pond over the other side of he bay (tame cod) and you can surf on the beach at the end of the bay when its too rough to go boating! The first wreck I ever dived on is the Enda-go out of the bay turn left and keep goin til you get to the rock headland - if you go on it can I have my hacksaw back please its down there somewhere but may be a tad rusty by now!
