Wanted: Yamaha 90A long shaft lower leg unit

I need a replacement gearbox for my long shaft Yam 90. I’m told that to rebuild mine which has stripped gears is a big job so would be better to buy a good used replacement. Any help very much appreciated.

I have a gearbox, latest case with the smaller water inlets but the cavitation plate is broken. Kept for a spare when we were using 2 strokes so I would think it will have good internals.

Hi Dave my engine is 2008 so I think that’s the correct one. Have you any pictures? Could the cavatation plate be mended? I see your in Scotland where abouts? Best Jamie

Who stripped yours? I may have the all the bits to repair your own one.

Don’t think it’s been stripped. Clyde Outboard services have told me just to get a full replacement lower unit. This did strike me as surprising but being new to RIBs I don’t know. I would much prefer to get my gearbox fixed than buy a full replacement. Can this be done? If so who would do it for me?
