Something around 200 Horses

I am in the market for a less than six year old extra longshaft outboard for a restoration I am contemplating.

I would obviously like it low hours and looked after.

I have cash waiting.

The catch.....

Well, it has to be a bit of a bargain or the project has no future.....

Anyone have any ideas? I am not a marque snob or worried about a days travel from the south coast.

Look forward to feed back or offers!

All the best, Barney

Hi all,

Just out of interest, did this post garner no interest on the basis of the question I asked or the way I asked it?

All the best to your and yours!

Hi Barney. I've absolutely no idea why it didn't get response. My best bet as someone who has been on here for a few years is that there might not be a) any OB 's that you require about and b) there's no one with any worthwhile answer.
Hope you get some response soon.

I'm guessing there's not that many low hour bigger engines that aren't bolted to a boat?

I'd be looking at a speedboat or something else from which one can be harvested as it may be cheaper than just an engine.

or there is this - EVINRUDE 200HP OUTBOARD WITH POWER TRIM AND TILT P/X SMALLER OUTBOARD | eBay

Hi all,

Thanks for coming back to me with thoughts and my apologies for then disappearing and not acknowledging the fact that I was indeed getting feed back and suggestions!

I think it proves point that I might be looking at a big ask, , large outboards usually stay with the boats they were paired with unless exchanged early and at nearly new price or swapped out much later when the engine is getting pretty well passed its sell by date.

I will sit on the fence for a little longer, I have put a number in the spreadsheet next to the 'engine' box and made an offer on a RIB on that basis. It looks like the project may not get off the ground so I am going to stop worrying about it.

If it does, I promise will come back looking for clues with a better brief.

Thanks for the help.

Barney.
