CF, Compact Flash? They’re obsolete now.

CF has got very spendy, probably due to rarity. Not sure I'd spend much buying it - if you have serious plans to RIB, maybe put the money toward more modern kit. Combo Plotter/Sounder units will slot in somewhere handy...

Yeah, if I was in your shoes, I'd stick all that vintage goodness on Ebay. It's 20yo electronics that have been in a marine environment. Would you rely on a 20yo laptop? I understand the desire to refurb an older boat - but electronics?

Completely agree with what your saying , it won’t be doing any big trips , this will be going to around Holyhead that’s about it .. I was after bringing back the history of the boat , and what it was like back in 2000 .. but it wouldn’t hurt to upgrade along the way

Well I guess say in Scotland's rocky areas the topography will be the same but in the shifting sands and mud of my local area loads can change. Then there's buoyage and new developments such as marinas and pontoons etc to consider.
Mind you to sibbers and small-medium ribs operated in daylight maybe not too much of an issue using older charts if you refine info with local pilot notes from online and other sources.

With my understanding the raymarine rc530 takes the old CF card ? Not SD ? .. again I may be completely wrong and I will hold my hands up 🙌

I'm guessing yours in 2016 was a legit one at that price, these Ebay ones will be copies. Not judging, just saying.
Digital chart pricing seems something of a black art these days. When I needed charts for my new plotter this year I found Garmin no longer sold all of UK & Ireland as one, you have to buy an area at a time for £150 (discounted by some legit suppliers). Luckily the South coast one covers right round from our local area to the Scillies so only had to buy one... until we get back to Scotland in the future.
Yet you can buy the Garmin Echomap 45c loaded with all of UK and Ireland for just £313 (from Cactus) so you only need to use it in two areas and the plotter itself is effectively free.

Garmin bought Navionics, effectively creating a monopoly. Other plotter manufacturers are now beholden to Garmin to supply the ubiquitous Navionics charts. By rigging the pricing, Garmin can make their products look cheap compared to their competitors.

Compact Flash (CF) is a very different beast to SD. As mentioned earlier it's an obsolete format. It's physically about 4x the size of a SD card & much lower data capacity. The CF card fits into a watertight slot on the Raymarine kit. I don't know if a SD/CF adapter would work, as it may interfere with the closing of the waterproof cover. I think the best that the OP can hope for is finding someone with an old CF card that they want to sell.
