Mercury Remote Oil Tank
I'm looking for a Mercury Remote Oil reservoir or tank.
But want the smaller 1.8 Gallon one not the larger one with the moulded in handle.
Part number is 15943A1
Like the one in the image
I only really need the bare tank with no caps etc.
Thanks.

Hi Nasher,
I've just re-engined my rib from a 225 Optimax to a 300 Suzuki 4-stroke.
I believe the old oil tank is still in one of the seat pods, but can't remember if it's the larger or smaller type?
I'll get a photo this morning and let you know. If it works for you, you are welcome to it.
Steve

Thanks beamishken, but it needs to be the Mercury type with two pipe connections.
One to pressurise the tank with Air in from the engine, and one for the pressurised Oil to be driven up towards the engine.

Sorry Nasher,
Looks like the one left in mine is the larger one with the handle. To be honest, I'm not sure how I'm going to get it out without destroying it or removing the "glassed-in" seat pod.
Good lick with the search - I'll ask my mechanic if he knows of one when I see him Thursday.
Steve

Yeh sorry I never looked closely at your pictures just knew that one was lying around & looked similar not even sure where it came from or what it's off but never been used
Good luck in your search

@Nasher - as a sanity check - are you sure? The big tank isn't "that" big and on mine I'd still have to fill it up every couple of tankfuls of fuel (I don't like it being less than half full). On a small tank you might end up having to carry some spare oil with you, which would seem to negate the point...

Hi
It's all about the size of the hatch I'll be able to have in the side of the seat base when I've cut it down.
I put the below in another thread, but am aware if I go with a smaller tank I'll also be carrying a loose container of oil to top up if needed:

When I’ve cut the bases down, by about 150mm I’ve worked out, I’ll reform the lip around the top to add the strength back in.
The main reason for doing it this way is that the Port side jockey has the Fuel filler and breather in it, which will be fine if I also lower them by 150mm.
The Optimax remote Oil tank is also in that Jockey, which gives me an issue because it’s so large.
It will fit in a lowered version, but I can’t find a hatch the right shape to be able to get it out through the side.
The current pads hinge to one side giving access from the top.
I don’t want to move it out to an open area on the deck, and moving it all the way forward into the consol takes the pipe run to twice the recommended length.
The Starboard Jockey is basically a big empty storage locker.
I think I have two options going forward.
Firstly I could bite the bullet and order a smaller Oil tank from the states at great expense, find and fit a hatch the right size and shape to go in the side of the lowered Jockey to access the Oil tank, then bolt a flat top down onto the top of the jockey to bolt the Ullman to.
That way the base is really strong and I can remove it to access all the pipework for the fuel tank when I need to.
Alternatively I could hinge a flat top to the jockey and bolt the Ullman to it so the whole seat hinges sideways to access the Oil tank etc.
The leverage of an Ullman could be quite large however.
I’m happy I could source 3 really strong low profile hinges for one side, but the 2 or 3 catches on the other side would have to be quite substantial, with the possibility of knocking your knee on them.
I wish, just once or twice I could decide to do something the easy way by compromising on what I’m trying to achieve.
Most of this would go away if I was prepared to put the Oil tank in the open on deck.
