If it's the right one and the price is right I'll come and get it. Love the drive to Fort William, if this had happened two weeks ago I could have called in on my way back from St Kilda.

Yes I have.

The gearbox I thought was there isn't, but I do have a donor box that would suit you, internals are fine, I dropped the oil and it shows no sign of water ingress, it just looks a bit tatty, someone has painted it in its past life. If you want it it's yours for nowt.

What went wrong in your one? Did gears punch a hole in casing?

That's exactly what happened, how did you know? Engine started fine, went to move off and bang, no gears just a hole in the casing and some damaged teeth in the gears.

What make is the donor box you have and are you sure you want nowt for it?

I know because I've rebuilt two of these boxes for the exact same reason and have seen many more. Keep an eye on eBay and you'll see plenty of 75/90hp engines for sale minus their boxes.

If I'm brutally honest I'd rebuild one for piece of mind. I wouldn't gamble with eBay seconds.

The one I have is a mariner 75/90, unsure of year. As its just a donor box you can have it.

I'll take you up on your generous offer if that's okay. Would it be possible for you to send it if I forward you the money once you know how much it would be? If not I'll see when I could get up to Fort William. Gearbox went on my first trip out in my new RIB so desperate to get it sorted and back in the water.

It's not all about the money.

Any man who thinks he's "running a female" just hasn't yet figured out her masterplan for him...
