Lots of dealers take engines part ex but don't advertise them on their websites. Worth giving them a call or email see what they got. They may also know if they have stuff coming in that they can advise you about.

OUCH !!

Have you any idea what caused it or did it give any warning that it was on its way ?

Sometimes you wonder about outboards, one minute they're flying & you have a huge grin. Then something plays up/breaks and you have either a pile of parts or the decision about an expensive repair !!

Probably blocked/bad carb I guess or something along those lines as the rest of the cylinders are ok so seeing as it's individual carbs I'm leaning towards that.

No sign of it happening until it did still runs perfectly as a V5 but unfortunately it's not as easy as that

I have an early 90's model on my 17 ft hardboat and it absolutely flies but typically for 12 days out of our 14 on holiday it wouldn't rev past 4200 rpm. Still had plenty for skiing etc but I missed that 5500 buzz. Turned out to be a flywheel magnet had decided to break up but then for the last day & a half decided to sort itself out which put the grin back....
Good luck with your search for a replacement. I had a 115 hp in line 4 before this which was a lot more economical.

Not exactly 2000 or younger, but hey this is a difficult market for 90hp+ outboards in decent condition - they normally stay with the boat.

Yeah beginning to see that the market is not the best for these size engines looks like that mariner is already sold on your above form dood.

I would repair the engine I currently have but the problem is I wanted to change it anyway as it was way too thirsty and repair bill would end up being more than what it's worth.

So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I know it's marked as sold but it's been on that form for a few months, and they do update their list regularly. Might be worth ringing them to find out what the deal is?
