15hp two stroke

I'm on the hunt for a late two stroke 15 hp in clean condition for m zodiac sib. If your thinking about selling I'd love to hear from you. The four stroke is getting a bit heavy as I get a bit older 😀. Southwest, but will travel for a nice one. Thanks.

Pretty rare to find a 15hp 2 stroke, especially in standard shaft.

Not a late model. https://www.ashmarine.co.uk/shop/onl...short-bargain/

What does your current motor weigh Dogboy?

The last of the 15hp 2-strokes usually weigh 35kg or 36kg... true for Yamaha, Mercury, Mariner, Suzuki. The Tohatsu 15 that is linked above is quite heavy at 41kg as it's based on the 18hp.

Depends where you look I found it listed at 52kg I suspect the later current model is 42kg but the early version in the link is likely the heavier 52kg early version

Sorry I didn't look at the link carefully. That's a 4-stroke and yes they would have been in the 52kg region.

In the 2-stroke range the Tohatsu 9.9, 15 & 18 all weighed 41kg which was OK for an 18 but not the smaller sizes.

Sorry mate, the 15 has nothing to do with a 18. The 15 HP has 250 CC while the 18 HP has 300 CC, both being 2 different animals..

Happy Boating

>>>Sorry mate, the 15 has nothing to do with a 18.

Loco I really don't know why you so frequently try and undermine the pretty accurate advice I give on here.

The Tohatsu manual link below you will see is the same manual for the 9.9/15/18 2-strokes (range been the same for at least 15yrs or so) as they are all basically the same motor. The only main difference between the 15 & 18 is the 18 is a bored out version of the 15. So the 15 has loads to do with the 18.

When a guy is asking about an outboard swap as weight is important to him then the crucial fact is... They weigh exactly the same at 41kg and have the same dimensions as the leg and most of the other components are the same.

http://www.tohatsu.pl/wp-content/upl....9-15-18_E.pdf

Takes a minute to load but the specs are on pages 10/11/12.

To add to the confusion Tohatsu now sell for commercial use a 15 & 18 MX model 2-stroke which are identical (apart from tuning) with the same 294cc capacity.

We all have our own ideas on value but I reckon someone had a really good buy there. Would happily have paid above that myself. Hope someone on here bought it.

Nowt to do with me! That said, that's a relatively rare engine and a great buy for someone.

Mines the 42 kg f9.9 fourstroke, so the extra 6/7kg will help, but I really want the extra oomph !

I did take a look at 15 enduro on eBay, but they weigh more than the standard yam two-strokes (into the 40kg bracket )
