2100 miles in an open boat in under 100 hours!

London to Monaco in
99 hours, 12 minutes and 15 seconds!

Following their incredible Atlantic Challenge last year, you might have thought that Alan Priddy and the rest of the Offshore Expeditions team would have a year off. That, however, is not what they had planned.

For 1998, the challenge was to travel by RIB from London to Monaco, once again using Spirit of Portsmouth, the team's 7.4 metre Ribtec. This may not be quite the same distance as crossing the Atlantic, but it was certainly no easy option!

The route covers 2100 miles and took the Spirit of Portsmouth down the Thames Estuary, along the length of the Channel to Guernsey, across the Bay of Biscay to Spain, into the Mediterranean past Gibraltar and onwards to Monaco. The team was backed up by two road crews hurtling through Europe making sure to arrive at each port before the boat did.
