Oh Dear... 20 years experience and you think that the side of a double lip seal is likely to be Nylon and that poking a hole in it and squirting grease into it constitutes cleaning and greasing? I hope you haven't done any maintenance on any plant that I'm likely to come into contact with.....

Ooo..look an Al-Ko sealed for life bearing... and this is what a man with 20 years experience wants to poke a hole in the side of... you may note that the side of the seal support is steel...  God give me strength...or at least the contract to put it all right..

That was complete sarcasm, never been an engineer (wasn't that evident!!!), specially not for 20 years (would have had to have gained my charterhood at the age of 13!)
I'm as likely to know anything about bearings that I do RIBS, hence looking for wisdom on this fantastic forum!

After suffering the corrosion issues with trailers before, a wee pearl of wisdom came my way from Ribcraft, when I picked my up boat.
Everybody might know about this but it was new to me, they spray the trailers once a year with waxoyl, (about £20, B&Q) 12 months down the line steam clean off, re-apply ready for another year...I'm all waxed up and it seems to work...

Tim before you try to undo the big centre nut, make sure you have a proper 1/2" breaker bar and a good quality 36mm socket. The cheapest place for a bar is Machine Mart in Northend about £10. The torque for these nuts is huge (rust won't help either). You will also need a 4 foot scafolding type pole to add to the end of the breaker bar unless you can find someone of Rogue Wave or Jonos physique who can just stand on the bar to release the nut, but with our build you will need an extra 4 feet to get the leverage

Yep the whole thing,be carefull when you use the spray (it's very slippery, if you inadvertantly spray it on the ground)
the wife came in from shoppin and started breakdancing in the drive...all I got was hot tougue and cold shoulder for dinner.
