I have just finished reading your book of your adventures in the northern hemisphere. Now I am sure you are certafiable

or extreamly brave?

I wish you & your team every success in your new adventure, so it's not a Rib but if it promotes the spirit of adventure, who know's others may try and follow in your footsteps.

Any chance of you taking your digicam and getting some shots of ANY of the vessels you mention?

These developments in boat design sound v. interesting to me. Am I alone in this?

Hi Brian

Do you know a guy called Richard Redyhoff. He brough a boat designed for the SAS which was a wave piercing machine. Did 50knts with a V8 inboard. Very narrow design. Every wave they hit the just go straight through it, no going up and down etc. They did get very wet though.

Not as wet as the fully submersable RIB that Delta built for the SBS.
Had air tanks to run the two outboards and at a convieniant time the tubes where inflated under the water and the team burst through the water blowing the crap out of anything or any one that was in the way. Alan P

The 'Very slender vessel' or VSV was developed over here in the Isle of Man, and from time to time we see a 'civilian' version scooting by - it is fully enclosed though, so no getting wet

To improve stability Richard Redyhoff decided that he wanted tubes added, which we did a couple of months ago, and is more than pleased with the end result. The tubes taper down from aft to virtually nothing at the bows

Take it this is not a British attempt, judging by the fact of the boat/crew ( excluding Allan ) and the boat design??

Unfortunatly It is nearly impossible to raise the sort of money reqired in the UK to attempt these sort of trips so we have to de camp to distant shores. But who knows, next time? Alan P
