What is the cheapest way to attach new sponsons to 8.4avon sea rider? Is it possible to fit them myself? Do they have to be made by Avon? Do they have to be hyperlon?

There are a number of cheaper ways of putting sponsons on your boat.

They involve many different materials that can be found in your garage or at the local refuse/recycling centre.

Attachment methods vary from plain old string to more sophisticated options such as nails or glue !!!

Hypalon is definitely the best bet - you could attach them yourself but far better to have a word with Paul Tilley.....

I'd just tie the children to the hull and have "active" tubes, on larger RIBs (Ridgid Infant Boats) you'll need to borrow a couple of kids from someone.....They'll love it! You get that uncluttered deck look .

If your going for a re tube and going to spend allot of money then get the Industry Professionals to do the Job in Orca Hypalon.

We have had 5 or 6 boats tubed by them and every one as been spot on and lasted in a commercial enviroment with no problems at all.

You may get slightly cheaper quotes but these boys are the best by far.

Got a feeling that the standard Avon 8.4 tubes are mechanically fastened to the hull so if you wish to replicate this method, it may be cheaper and easier to purchase directly from Avon as they will have the necessary templates and fastenings to hand.

This route will gaurantee quality and i imagine would enhance re-sale value also.

i think you will find that the large avon tubes can be either mechaniclly attatched or glued on and for the majority of colours henshaws use aerazur fabric not orca

It is a big project but doable, what engine are you thinking of dropping in the Hull
