Most of the time a poor idle on an E-TEC is because of sparkplugs being worn - too large a gap.

Pull one plug at a time and check them and install new or regap to about .028".

I'm sure you will find that the 2 letters just before the last letter on the model number plate will be SU.

SU designates a 2007 model....

The difference in displacement from the 3.3L motors to the new 3.4L motors is a slightly longer stroke. The bore is the same.
